Actor Vikram Prabhu had his last outing in Tollywood via a supporting role in the action crime drama Ghaati directed by Krish Jagarlamudi with actress Anushka Shetty in the female lead role. The Paayum Oli Nee Yenakku actor is now gearing up for the release of his next Tamil crime thriller titled Sirai. Newbie director Suresh Rajakumari, former assistant of auteur Vetri Maaran, has helmed the flick. Story teller Tamil Arasan, who previously directed Vikram Prabhu in Taanakkaran, has penned the story of the film.
Social media influencer and dancer Ananda Thambirajah will set foot in Tamil cinema with her female lead part in the drama. Malayalam actress Anishma Anilkumar and L K Akshay Kumar, son of producer S S Lalit Kumar, will also be making their debut in Kollywood with pivotal supporting characters in the entertainer.
Sirai has been shot in and around the surroundings of Chennai, Sivagangai, and Vellore. The movie is poised to hit theaters worldwide as a festive release on Christmas of this year. The production house has now launched the first single from the flick on social media.
Taking to their official X profile, the production team of Seven Screen Studios shared a couple of snaps along with a link to the first single ‘Mannichiru’ from Sirai and worded, “Mannichiru out now. Music composer Justin Prabhakaran has scored music for the song. He has also written the lyrics of the track. Singers D Sathya Prakash and Aanandi Joshi have lent their voice for the number. The song is mixed by Balu Thankachan, and mastered by Shadad Rayeen.
Earlier speaking to a news outlet about the entertainer, story teller Suresh Rajakumari stated, “Sirai is based on a real-life story that our writer Tamil Arasan experienced while he was working as a cop. Let me make one thing clear, this will not be the larger-than-life cop character.”
Revealing further he said, “The cop character is rooted in reality. He understands the police system well, and knows how cruel it can be to people. He will not be stern and inhumane but at the same time he will not be a revolutionary either. It is a character like you and me that does not want to stand out alone, rather wants to be within the system yet fight to retain the human characteristics.”
The star cast of the entertainer also includes actors Sushmitha Bhat, Ragu Esaki, Harishankar Narayanan, Wenugopal Kesavan, and S Rajapandi. Cinematographer Madhesh Manickam has taken care of the cinematography division of the film. Editor Philomin Raj has been roped in to work on the editing department of the drama.
Art director Amaran has erected sets for the film. Stunt master Prabhu Chandrasekar has designed action moves for the movie. The venture is funded by S S Lalit Kumar along with Vishnu Kumar under the production banner Seven Screen Studios.
On the professional front, actor Vikram Prabhu is currently busy shooting for his next ventures Rathamum Sadhaiyum crafted by Harendhar Balachandar, Pagaiye Kathiru filmed by director Manivel in which he will be partnering with actresses Smruthi Venkat & Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and an untitled project scripted by Ramesh Ravichandran in which he will be romancing actress Eesha Rebba.
