The snap shared by D Imman has the entire team of Moi Virundhu celebrating the final day of shoot with a cake cutting ceremony. Earlier speaking about the entertainer to a leading daily, director C R Manikandan said, “As the title suggests, the plot is predicated on the long-lost cultural practice called Moi Virundhu. Today, if we need money, we approach the banks. But in those days, particularly in and around the regions of Pattukkottai and Peravurani in Thanjavur, people used to organize a feast to raise money.”
He further revealed, “Interestingly, not everyone can arrange a feast. Only people who have impeccable reputation in the locality can host one. Their reputation is what acts as today’s CIBIL score.” Describing why he chose to turn it into a feature movie, he stated, “I realized that most people outside of Thanjavur are not even aware that such a practice existed in Tamil Nadu. Hence, I decided to make a movie about it.”
Talking about the story of the film, he divulged, “It follows a woman’s character who hails from the family that has the reputation of hosting such feasts. The family is known for hosting feasts for common good. And has never hosted a feast for themselves. However, they suffer a heavy loss and are forced to host one for themselves. The reason behind the loss and the emotional arc of having to organize a feast for themselves makes the crux of the story.”
Star cast of Moi Virundhu also includes actors Deepa Shankar, Archana, Arul Doss, Abarnithi, Manasvi Kottachi, Sujatha Sivakumar, Tiger Thangadurai, Namo Narayanan, Kicha Ravi, Muruganatham, Lollu Sabha Maran, and Gajaraj. Music composer D Imman has been hired to work on the musical department of the flick. Cinematographer M Sukumar has taken care of the cinematography division of the movie.Â
The editing work of the drama has been handed over to editor Bhuvan. Art director T Ramalingam has engineered sets for the entertainer. Stunt director Sudesh Kumar has fashioned action blocks for the project. Moi Virundhu is funded by S Kamalakannan in affiliation with Vijay Bharathi K under the production house SK Films International. Â
