Director Lokesh Kanagaraj ventured in to Tamil cinema with the independent anthology film Aviyal. The drama did not do well in the box office. But the film maker announced his arrival in Tamil cinema with his sophomore action thriller Maanagaram starring Sundeep Kishan and Shri. The entertainer was widely recognized and reaped positive reviews. He followed Maanagaram with the commercial action drama Kaithi with actor Karthi in the lead. This venture attained a decent commercial success. The success of the entertainer turned actor Vijay’s attention towards him landing him the bonanza offer to direct the actor in Master. He went a step further to add weight to the drama by signing actor Vijay Sethupathi to play the antagonist part. The entertainer which hit the screens as a Pongal release went on to be a massive blockbuster.
From the success of Master, director Lokesh Kanagaraj swiftly moved on to his next drama in which he bagged the opportunity to direct veteran actor Kamal Haasan. The film was titled Vikram. This time around the director amplified his game by roping actors Vijay Sethupathi and Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil. The entertainer is already in the list of most anticipated dramas of the year. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has a habit of shooting a project in a short span of time. Now, we have news that the story teller has wrapped up the shoot of Vikram. He has taken only 110 days to complete the project. It takes extreme level of planning, organizing, and implementation precision to get a project done is such a short time. Many producers and people in the industry are congratulating the film maker and his team for his efforts. The director himself has shared the news on the social media. Taking to his twitter handle, the film maker shared a video from the final day of the shoot with the caption, ‘After 110 days of shoot it’s a wrap. The production house dropped a title announcing teaser of the flick on 7th of November last year. The few seconds cut version, enjoyed a great reception among the cinema audience setting the expectations quite high. The venture which is currently in the post production is poised to hit the screens in the month of May. The date of release is expected to be announced soon. There is an old film of actor Kamal Hassan with the same title. But it is said the film has no relevance to that except for the title.
Apart from actors Kamal Hassan, Fahadh Faasil, and Vijay Sethupathi the casting department has actors Shivani Narayanan, Anish Padmanabhan, Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, Antony Varghese, Arjun Das, Chemban Vinod Jose, Jaffer Sadiq, Sampath Ram, Hareesh Peradi, Shanvi Srivastava, Myna Nandhini, Maheswari, and Darshanaa Vijayakumar in various other supporting roles. The music for the venture will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The cinematography department has been taken care of by ace cinematographer Girish Gangadharan. The entertainer is edited by Philomin Raj. The film is bankrolled by actor Kamal Haasan and R. Mahendran under the banner house Raaj Kamal Films International.
