Shruti Haasan Bio

Shruti Haasan began her screen career with a child role in the 2000 film Hey Ram. Her first adult acting role came in the Hindi action drama Luck in 2009, where she played Ayesha and Natasha. She entered Telugu cinema with Anaganaga O Dheerudu and Tamil cinema with 7Aum Arivu in 2011. Those two performances brought her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut - South.

The Tamil film 3 followed in 2012, with Haasan playing Janani. During the next several years, she worked regularly across Telugu, Tamil and Hindi productions. Her Telugu credits included Gabbar Singh, Balupu, Yevadu, Race Gurram, Srimanthudu, Premam and Katamarayudu. She received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress - Telugu for Race Gurram. In Tamil cinema, she appeared in Poojai, Puli, Vedalam, Si 3 and Laabam. Her Hindi films during this period included D-Day, Ramaiya Vastavaiya, Gabbar Is Back, Welcome Back, Rocky Handsome and Behen Hogi Teri.

She expanded into television and streaming with the action series Treadstone in 2019, playing Nira Patel. This was followed by the anthology Pitta Kathalu and the series Bestseller, in which she played Meetu Mathur. Her film work in the 2020s has included Krack, Vakeel Saab, Waltair Veerayya, Veera Simha Reddy and Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire. She also had a cameo in Hi Nanna and played Dianna in The Eye. In 2025, she appeared as Preeti in Coolie.

Alongside acting, Haasan has worked as a singer and music composer. Her music direction work began with Unnaipol Oruvan, and she has also performed with her own music band.
