Actor Vishal Krishna had a release earlier this year in the action-comedy movie Madha Gaja Raja directed by Sundar C with actresses Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Anjali in the female lead roles. The Laththi actor is now focused on his upcoming venture christened Magudam. Director Ravi Arasu was supposed to direct the project. But actor Vishal took over the venture. Writers Anand Kumaresan and Pon Parthiban have written dialogues for the film.
Actresses Dushara Vijayan of Sarpatta Parambarai fame and Anjali of Kattradhu Thamizh fame have been cast as the female leads in the drama. The venture went on floors a couple of months back with the working title Vishal 35. Later the production team released a title teaser to announce the title Magudam. Now we have news that the film is about to enter the final leg of shoot. Actor Vishal himself has shared the news on social media.
Taking to his official X profile, actor Vishal dropped a snap of himself and worded, “Shoot mode. Magudam/Makutam in the 1960s. Time to wrap this sequence and move to the 90s/ final phase of shooting. Shoot Mode. Time To Wrap. Final Phase Of Shoot. Vintage 60s. Director Mode. Actor Life. Makudam. When the film went on floors the production team had stated they have planned to complete the shoot before the end of the year with three schedules of shoot. Looks like they are on schedule to wrap the movie. Magudam is touted to be a gangster film which will be intense and high on action. It is also said to be made with a grand budget.
The casting team of the movie also comprises actors Thambi Ramaiah, Sampath Raj, Yogi Babu, and Arjai. Music director G V Prakash Kumar will be scoring music for the film. Magudam will mark his second collaboration with actor Vishal after the duo’s success in Mark Antony. Cinematographer Richard M Nathan is once behind the lens for actor Vishal after their dazzling outings in Madha Gaja Raja, Naan Sigappu Manithan, Samar, and Kaththi Sandai.
Editor N B Srikanth will be editing the project. Art director G Durairaj is fashioning the background for the movie. Action master Dhilip Subbarayan is designing action blocks for the flick. The drama is produced by R B Choudary under his home banner Super Good Films. Magudam will be the 99th production to come out under the prestigious production group.
On the work side, actor Vishal is simultaneously busy with the sequel of his hit spy thriller Thupparivaalan headlined and directed by himself with actors Prasanna & Rahman in supporting roles, two of his untitled entertainers scripted by Ajay Gnanamuthu and Gautham Vasudev Menon. Beside these ventures, he has his long-delayed flick Karuppu Raja Vella Raja helmed by Prabhu Deva in which he has partnered with actors Karthi and Sayyeshaa Saigal in the box office awaiting to see the light of day.
On the other hand, actress Anjali is enthusiastically anticipating the release of Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai directed by Ram in which she has featured alongside actors Nivin Pauly & Soori. The Paranthu Po actress is presently engaged in a couple of her women centric films Eegai helmed by Ashok Velayutham in which she will be collaborating with actor Santhosh Prathap, Poochandi directed by Krishnan Jayaraj in which she will be featuring alongside actor Yogi Babu, and a Malayalam venture Oru Perumgaliyattam crafted by Jayaraj in which she will be teaming up with Suresh Gopi.
