Actor Sasikumar recently had a stellar outing in the black comedy drama Tourist Family crafted by debutant story teller Abishan Jeevinth with veteran actress Simran in the female lead role. The entertainer opened to positive reviews from critics and is still running successfully in theaters. The Udanpirappe actor will soon have yet another release in his upcoming Tamil Telugu bilingual drama christened Freedom. Storyteller Sathyasiva, who previously worked with actor Sasikumar in Naan Mirugamaai Maara, has penciled and helmed the movie. Malayalam actress Lijomol Jose of Jai Bhim fame will be seen in the female lead part in the drama. The makers have already publicized that the flick will be releasing in theaters worldwide on 10th of July this year.
The production unit has now dropped the teaser of the venture on social media. Taking to his official X account, story teller Sathyasiva himself unveiled a special poster from the movie along with links to Tamil and Telugu version teaser of Freedom and worded, “Teaser of Sasikumar’s Freedom is here, Witness the Hard Hitting Action saga in theatres from July 10th!! Tamil. Telugu. Freedom From July 10. Directed by Sathyasiva. Produced by Vijaya Ganapathy’s Pictures Pandiyan Parasuraman.” Here is the post made by the director.
One and a half minutes of the odd teaser of Freedom begins with a violent protest in an establishment. Following which we have a shot of Sasikumar getting detained. Subsequently, he voices, “Why should we be here without committing any crime? We all should escape.” The scene cuts to a cop saying, “We have to pile investigation after investigation on all of them and kill them here.” In a hard hitting scene we have a character mouthing, “Our politicians have a special love for Sri Lankan Tamil people. If the crowd on the outside comes inside, we cannot predict what will happen.” We witness the brutal treatment of Sri Lankan Tamil people in a prison camp. The teaser ends with the voiceover of Malavika Avinash, “I will start legal proceedings in court. No one can stop your freedom.” The entertainer is said to be inspired by real life events.
Apart from Sasikumar and Lijomol Jose, the star cast of the movie also has actors Malavika Avinash, Ramesh Khanna, Sudev Nair, Mu Ramasamy, Saravanan, Boys Manikandan, and Bose Venkat playing various supporting characters. Music composer Ghibran Vaibodha has been brought on board to work on the musical division of the drama. The project will be his third affiliation with actor Sasikumar following their successful outings in Naan Mirugamaai Maara and Nandhan. Already a single named ‘Aagayam Ambuttayum’ is out from the album. Cinematographer N S Uthayakumar has been behind camera for the movie. Editor N B Srikanth has been roped in to oversee the editing department of the project. Art director C Uthayakumar has engineered sets for the drama. Stunt masters T Ramesh, Danger Mani, and Don Ashok have worked in tandem to choreograph action moves for the venture. The drama is produced by Pandiyan Parasuraman along with Sujatha Pandiyan under their production company Vijaya Ganapathy’s Pictures.
On the professional front, actor Sasikumar has a couple of films lined up in his pipeline for release in the likes of Evidence directed by Ranjith Manikandan, Naa Naa crafted by director N V Nirmal in which he has shared screen space with actor Sarathkumar, and Pagaivanuku Arulvai scripted by director Anees in which he has performed alongside actresses Vani Bhojan and Bindhu Madhavi. The Kombu Vatcha Singamda actor is currently working on his future projects My Lord filmed by Raju Murugan in which he will be joining force with actress Chaithra J Achar, and an untitled film helmed by M Guru in which he will be co starring with actors Bharath, Megha Shetty, Sathyaraj, and Malavika.
