Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu was last seen in Tamil in the romantic comedy film Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal helmed by Vignesh Shivan with actors Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara in lead roles. The Super Deluxe actress is now eagerly awaiting the release of her next Tamil Telugu bilingual action thriller Engal Thangam. Telugu director B V Nandini Reddy has directed the entertainer.
Creators Raj Nidimoru and Vasanth Maringanti have written the story of the flick. Actor Gulshan Devaiah has been paired with actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the film. The movie was extensively shot in and around the neighborhoods of Hyderabad. Engal Thangam is poised to hit the screens on 19th of June. Meanwhile, the production house has now launched the trailer of the entertainer on social media.

The three minutes odd trailer of Engal Thangam opens to someone asking actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, “I think I have seen you before. What is your name? Where are you from?” She replies, “Do you know who I am? Do you really?” The scene shifts to her telling her boyfriend’s family, “He waited desperately for 2 years for his family to accept him.”
The family begins questioning her incessantly, “What is your caste? Do you pray daily? Can you cook? Where are you from? Any siblings?” She then complains about it to her boyfriend, “They grilled me like I was a criminal.”
In a short entry, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu says, “A daughter in law is expected to have many qualities. She should be seen as the ideal woman. She should be beautiful, soft spoken, well behaved, be responsible, should cook, and sing well. I have none of those qualities. But I can promise you this. I would risk everything to keep my family safe.” Then we witness the actress beat someone to a pulp.
Subsequently, in a scene a character asks Samantha Ruth Prabhu, “Did you just threaten him?” She responds, “Be it a hero or a housewife, when the dialogue lands right, it can scare anyone.” Following which a character tells her, “You have not changed a bit! Only we know who we really are. We show the world only what it wants to see. I am sure you told your family about your old life. You did, right?”
Star cast of Engal Thangam also comprises actors Gautami Tadimalla, Vasanth Maringanti, Gavi Reddy, Sreemukhi, Manjusha, Diganth Manchale, Lakshmi, Anand, and Kayal Devaraj. Music composer Santhosh Narayanan has handled musical gear for the flick. Cinematographer Om Prakash has been behind the lens for the movie. Editor Dharmendra Kakarala has been trusted with the editing department of the entertainer.
Art director Ullas Hydoor has designed the background for the venture. Stunt directors Lee Whittaker and Aejaz Gulab have worked in tandem to choreograph action blocks for the movie. Engal Thangam is funded by Samantha Ruth Prabhu herself along with Raj Nidimoru and Himank Reddy Duvvuru under the production banner Tralala Moving Pictures.
On the work front, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu will soon have a release in the digital space via the Hindi web series Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom scripted by Rahi Anil Barve in which she has teamed up with actors Aditya Roy Kapoor, Ali Fazal, and Wamiqa Gabbi.
