Actor Dhanush K Raja had his last outing in the heist action thriller movie Kara crafted by Vignesh Raja with actress Mamitha Baiju in the female lead role. The Naane Varuvean actor had recently signed on the dotted line for his upcoming project, tentatively titled D 56. Story teller Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, who previously directed the critically acclaimed movie Lubber Pandhu, has written and is directing the project. 

Actress Preity Mukhundhan of Anbil Avan fame has been paired with actor Dhanush for the first time in her career. We now have news that the drama has gone on floors following a small pooja ceremony at a temple in Sivaganga. Filming for the project is set to take place across several locations in and around Sivaganga and Madurai. The production house has set summer of 2027 as the release window for the film. The makers themselves have announced the news on social media. 

Taking to their official X account, the team of Sithara Entertainments dropped a video of the D 56 pooja ceremony and captioned it, “D56 – Here’s a glimpse of a grand beginning to an exciting journey. Summer 2027 release. Dhanush K Raja, Vadivelu, S J Suryah, Vijay B Kumar, Preity Mukundan, Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, Sai Abhyankkar, Srikara Studios, Sithara Entertainments, Primark Productions, Naga Vamsi, Sai Soujanya, Lingasamy.” Here is the post made by the production house. 

The nearly two-minute promo video opens with a shot of the temple gateway tower of Maranadu Karuppanaswamy temple. Then a tracking shot shows us the preparations that are underway for the pooja event. Then we witnessed a large crowd carrying a billhook to the pooja event. Subsequently, artists start to arrive for the function. Amidst a large gathering of supporters, actor Dhanush arrives at the venue.  

D 56 is touted to be a gangster action movie set against a rugged rural backdrop. Actor S J Suryah is reportedly playing the antagonist in the venture. Veteran actor Vadivelu will be seen in a prominent role in the drama. The star cast of the venture also includes director and actor Vijay Kumar of Uriyadi fame, Kaali Venkat, Aruldoss, Adhisheshan K R, and Hari Rajan. 

Music director Sai Abhyankkar has been trusted with the musical division of the movie. This is his second successive collaboration with actor Dhanush, following their maiden association in the upcoming release, OM Chapter I: Udhiram – The Blood Wood. Cinematographer Ezhil Arasu K is heading the cinematography department of the drama. Editor Prasanna G K has been bestowed with the responsibility to bring coherence to the movie.

Art director Veeramani Ganesan is designing sets for the film. Action director Yannick Ben is choreographing action blocks in the venture. The project is bankrolled by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under the production company Sithara Entertainments, in association with Sai Soujanya under the production label Srikara Studios, along with P Lingasamy and Haritha Aarthi Lingasamy for the production banner Primark Productions. 

On the work side, actor Dhanush K Raja keenly awaits the release of OM Chapter I: Udhiram – The Blood Wood helmed by Rajkumar Periasamy in which he has featured with actors Mammootty & Sai Pallavi. The Captain Miller actor is now engrossed in his future film Thamizh Murugan directed by Vetrimaaran, Aayirathil Oruvan 2 crafted by Selvaraghavan, Pudhupettai 2 also filmed by Selvaraghavan, Ilaiyaraaja created by Arun Matheswaran, Kalam: The Missile Man Of India filmed by Om Raut, and a couple of his untitled entertainers under the direction of Nelson Dilipkumar, Mari Selvaraj, & H Vinoth. 

On the other hand, actress Preity Mukhundhan is excited for the release of her Bollywood debut movie Naagzilla directed by Mrighdeep Lamba in which she has joined forces with actors Kartik Aaryan & Ravi Kishan, and a Telugu release via Emo Emo Idi helmed by Sailesh Kolanu in which she has performed alongside actor Roshann Meka. The Star actress is now occupied in her upcoming Tamil project Dashamakan scripted by Vineeth Varaprasad in which she will be seen alongside actors Harish Kalyan & Sathyaraj, and a Telugu film George Krish directed by Sreenu Vaitla in which she will be sharing screen space with actor Sharwanand.
