Actor G V Prakash Kumar last graced the silver screen this year in the crime thriller movie Blackmail helmed by Mu Maran with actresses Teju Ashwini and Bindu Madhavi as female leads. The Kalvan actor is currently busy shooting for his next project christened Mental Manadhil. Auteur Selvaraghavan, who took a break from directing and kept himself busy with acting, has returned to directing nearly after five years with the drama. He has also penned the story of the project.
Actress Madhuri Jain of Sivakumarin Sabadham fame is playing the female lead role in the drama. Story teller Selvaraghavan has been posting updates at regular intervals about the shoot to keep his fans updated on the progress of the movie. He recently dropped a snap of him observing the shoot from a monitor. Taking to his official X account, director Selvaraghavan dropped a picture from the shooting spot and captioned it, “Mental Manadhil shoot. G V Prakash Kumar.” Here is the post made by the director.

Retweeting his tweet, musician G V Prakash Kumar promised the fans of Aayirathil Oruvan and Mayakkam Enna that this album would be a special one for them. Actor and musician G V Prakash Kumar retweeted the tweet by Selvaraghavan and wrote, “Shoot mode with the legendary Selvaraghavan sir . . . The film and its music is going to be a special treat for Aayirathil Oruvan and Mayakkam Enna fans.”
G V Prakash Kumar had previously composed music for auteur Selvaraghavan’s classics Aayirathil Oruvan and Mayakkam Enna. This is the first time he is working as an actor in his directorial. The title ‘Mental Manadhil’ seems to be inspired from A R Rahman’s number of the same name from the flick O Kadhal Kanmani.
The first look poster of the entertainer was unveiled by actor Dhanush K Raja. It had actor G V Prakash Kumar donning a vibrant t-shirt wearing shades. The project is in its final leg of shooting. It is expected to be wrapped by the end of this month. The production house is planning to release the drama in the summer of 2026.
Apart from G V Prakash Kumar, and Madhuri Jain, the star cast of Mental Manadhil also has actors Monisha Mohan Menon, Arunachaleshwaran, Thejank, and Vidyullekha Raman essaying various supporting roles. Actor G V Prakash Kumar will also be handling musical gears for the venture. Cinematographer Arun Radhakrishnan has been roped in to operate camera for the film.
Editor Balaji has been bestowed with the responsibility to chop and patch the entertainer. Art director R K Vijay Murugan is erecting sets for the venture. Stunt director Rajasekar is designing action moves for the movie. Mental Manadhil is bankrolled by G V Prakash Kumar himself for the production label Parallel Universe Pictures.
On the work front, actor G V Prakash Kumar is eagerly anticipating the release of his next venture Adangathey helmed by Shanmugam Muthuswamy in which he will be seen alongside actress Surbhi Chandra. The Jail actor is currently occupied in his upcoming film Immortal crafted by story teller Mariyappan Chinna in which he will be performing alongside actress Kayadu Lohar, Idi Muzhakkam directed by Seenu Ramasamy in which he will be sharing screen space with actress Gayathrie, and 13 scripted by director Vivek K Kannan in which he will be costarring with actors Aadya Prasad, Bhavya Trikha, and Gautham Vasudev Menon.
