Actor Vijay Sethupathi had his last outing in Gandhi Talks crafted by Kishor Pandurang Belekar with actors Arvind Swamy and Aditi Rao Hydari in lead roles. The Viduthalai actor is now gearing up for a release in the digital space via his maiden Tamil web series Kaattaan. Story teller M Manikandan, who helmed the critically acclaimed Kaaka Muttai and Kadaisi Vivasayi, has crafted the venture along with B Ajithkumar. Manikandan has written the story of the series.
Bollywood actor Milind Soman, the antagonist of Paiyaa and Pachaikili Muthucharam, will be seen in a prominent role in the series. The shoot for the entertainer extensively took place in Malaysia and a few regions of Kerala. Kaattaan will be available for streaming on Jio Hotstar from 27th of March. The production house has been promoting the venture by dropping a glimpse video and a teaser for the series on social media. They have now shared the trailer of the entertainer.

The two minute trailer of Kaattaan starts with a cop saying, “Since there are no cases for a long time, our police station is getting closed. Only one week left, we need to pack up by then.” The shot cuts to a character asking a boy, “Hey! Why are you running away like you just saw a ghost?” They find a decapitated human head lying on a rock. A bystander comments, “Seems like they killed him while he was laughing?”
Following which a cop enquires his subordinate, “A postmortem with just a head? Where is the body?” He responds, “We are searching for the body, sir.” Then we witness a bunch of men searching for someone. An individual tells them, “Why are you looking for him? For what? You will not find anything about him.”
Subsequently, a cop briefs his superior, “Back in 1997, he worked as a watch mechanic in Ottanchathiram.” The shot cuts to the owner telling the cops, “He was extremely skilled. I have not seen a worker like him in 15 years.” The cop continues his briefing, “In 2005, he worked as an elephant trainer. Then he moved away from there with a north Indian. For him, spending money was a full-time job. In 2013, he was a bodyguard for the Kanmani Dance Group.”
In a scene we see a man intimidating Vijay Sethupathi, “Is she from your family?” He replies, “Yes, she is. You have to kill me before taking her with you.” A cop tells his fellow officer, “They all hide something from us. We just do not know what that is.” The trailer ends with actor Vijay Sethupathi ordering food, “Brother! Two parottas, two half-boiled eggs.”
Star cast of Kaattaan also includes actors Muthukumar, Kalaivani Bhaskar, Milind Usha Sonam, Risha Jacob, Sudev Nair, Singampuli, Gemini Mani, Balaji Shaktivel, Ayali Abhi, and VJ Parvathy. Music director Rajesh Murugesan has scored music for the series. Cinematographer M Sukumar has shouldered camera for the entertainer.
Editor Pradeep E Ragav has been trusted with the editing department of the series. Art directors Sabu Mohan and Immanuel Jackson have erected sets for the project. Action director Kalai Kingson has choreographed action moves for the series. Kaattaan is funded by Vijay Sethupathi himself under the banner house VSP Productions in association with Arunmugakumar for the production house 7 Cs Entertainment.
On the work front, actor Vijay Sethupathi is expecting back to back release in Train crafted by Mysskin in which he has featured alongside actors Ira Dayanand & Narain, Pisasu 2 also filmed by Mysskin in which he has teamed up with actresses Andrea Jeremiah & Poorna, and a Telugu venture Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road directed by Puri Jagannadh in which he has partnered with Bollywood actress Tabu and Kannada actor Duniya Vijay. The DSP actor is now working on his next project Arasan scripted by Vetri Maaran in which he will be costarring with actor Silambarasan, and for a cameo in Jailer 2 helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar in which he will be joining forces with actors Rajinikanth and Mithun Chakraborty.
