Actor Vijay last graced the silver screen in the action thriller film GOAT – The Greatest Of All Time helmed by director Venkat Prabhu with actress Meenakshi Chaudhary in the female lead role. Millions feared, and were deeply upset that it would be his last project as stated. There was a sigh of relief after the announcement of his upcoming project christened Jana Nayagan. Director H Vinoth, who directed actor Ajith Kumar in Nerkonda Paarvai, Valimai, and Thunivu has written and crafted the movie.
Actress Pooja Hegde, who has already shared screen space with the star in Beast will be romancing him yet again in the drama. Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju has been signed in to essay a prominent role in the flick. The shoot for the venture was wrapped in the month of April this year. Post production work for the film has been underway in full fledged.
Actor Vijay celebrated his birthday recently. As a token of love, the makers released a special clip from the film and extended their wishes to the star. Taking to their official X handle, the production team of KVN Productions unveiled a couple of first look posters along with a link to ‘The first roar’ video from Jana Nayagan and worded it, “Engal nenjil kudiyirukkum. One-minute odd video clip opens to actor Vijay’s popular phrase that he uses to address his fans, ‘En nenjil kudiyirukkum.’ Then we have a caption carrying a political message, ‘A true leader rises not for power, but for the people.’ Following which we have the intro of the star dressed as a cop holding a Katana sword in his shoulder.
In a subsequent shot we witness blood stains in his hand that wields the sword. The video ends with the message, ‘Let us rise together.’ Finally, it confirms the arrival of the entertainer to theaters worldwide as a festive release for Pongal of 2026. The movie will be released in languages Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
Apart from Vijay, Pooja Hegde, and Mamitha Baiju, the ensemble cast of Jana Nayagan also has Bollywood star Bobby Deol of Animal fame as antagonist, Priyamani, Prakash Raj, Revathi, Narain, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Shruti Haasan, Baba Bhaskar, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Monisha Blessy, Teejay Arunasalam, Srinath, and Irfan Zaini portraying various supporting roles. Music director Anirudh Ravichander will be scoring music for the entertainer. The project marks the fifth association of him with actor Vijay after their superhit albums in Kaththi, Master, Beast, and Leo.
Cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan has handled the cinematography department of the drama. Editor Pradeep E Ragav has been brought on board to bring coherence to the movie. Art director Selva Kumar has designed the background for the flick. Action director Anlarasu has choreographed action blocks for the venture. Jana Nayagan is bankrolled by Venkat K Narayana in affiliation with Jagadish Palanisamy and Lohith N K for the production house KVN Productions.
On the professional front, actress Pooja Hegde will next be seen in an item number in Coolie scripted by Lokesh Kanagaraj with actors Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Upendra, and Shruti Haasan in lead roles, and in a Bollywood film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai crafted by director David Dhawan in which she has collaborated with actors Varun Dhawan & Mrunal Thakur. The Retro actress is presently engaged in her next Tamil project Kanchana 4 directed and headlined by Raghava Lawrence.
On the other hand, actress Mamitha Baiju is currently occupied in her upcoming movie tentatively titled Suriya 46 filmed by Venky Atluri in which she will be co starring with actor Suriya, and Dude helmed by Ramkumar in which she will be seen alongside actor Pradeep Ranganathan.
