Actor Karthi was last seen on screen in Telugu cinema in a cameo part in Hit: The Third Case crafted by director Sailesh Kolanu with actors Nani and Srinidhi Shetty in lead roles. The Meiyazhagan actor will soon be returning to Kollywood via his next Tamil Telugu bilingual action thriller titled Vaa Vaathiyaar. The Telugu version of the film is christened Annagaru Vastaru.
Story teller Nalan Kumarasamy, who is known for his brilliant works like Soodhu Kavvum and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum, has written and directed the movie. Actresses Krithi Shetty of The Warriorr fame, and Shilpa Manjunath of Ispade Rajavum Idhaya Raniyum fame have played the female lead roles in the drama. Earlier this year the makers had released the first single from the movie. They have now shared the second single from the album on social media.
Taking to their official X account, the production team of Studio Green dropped a special poster along with a link to the second single ‘Aalapikkey Ummak’ from Vaa Vaathiyaar and wrote, “The ‘Aalapikkey’ is not over yet. Singers Santhosh Narayanan and Kelithee have crooned the track. Kelithee has also written the lyrics for the song. The number is mixed by Akash Shravan, and mastered by Rupendar. Music composer Santhosh Narayanan has scored music for the entertainer. Already a single ‘Uyir Pathikaama’ in the vocals of Vijay Narain, Aditya Ravindran, & Santhosh Narayanan is out from the album.
Musician Santhosh Narayanan is collaborating with Nalan Kumarasamy for the third time after Soodhu Kavvum and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum. The film also marks his third association with actor Karthi following their successful outings in Madras and Kaashmora. Initially, actor Vijay Sethupathi was announced to headline the project. Due to his other commitments, actor Arya replaced him. However, the team finally settled with actor Karthi.
Apart from Karthi, Krithi Shetty, and Shilpa Manjunath, the ensemble cast of Vaa Vaathiyaar also has actors Rajkiran, Karunakaran, Anand Raj, Sathyaraj, Ramesh Thilak, G M Sundar, Vidhya Borgia, P L Thenappan, Madhur Mittal, Nivas Adhitan, and Vadivukkarasi essaying various supporting roles. Cinematographer George C Williams has handled camera gears for the project.
Editor Vetre Krishnan has been brought on board to chop and patch the drama. Art director Kiran Drk has fashioned a background for the entertainer. Stunt man ‘Anl’ Arasu has designed action blocks for the movie. Vaa Vaathiyaar is produced by K E Gnanavel Raja and Neha Gnanavel Raja under their production label Studio Green.
On the work front, actor Karthi will next be seen on screens in Sardar 2 helmed by P S Mithran in which he has shared screen space with actresses Raashii Khanna and Malavika Mohanan. The Japan star is currently focused on his future projects Marshal crafted by Thamizh in which he will be collaborating with actress Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Kaithi 2 directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj in which he will be teaming up with actors Arjun Das and Narain.
On the other hand, actress Krithi Shetty is awaiting consecutive releases in Love Insurance Kompany directed by Vignesh Shivan in which she will be seen alongside actors Pradeep Ranganathan & S J Suryah, and Genie scripted by Bhuvanesh Arjunan in which she has performed alongside actors Ravi Mohan and Kalyani Priyadarshan.
