Actor Samuthirakani recently had an outing in the OTT space via the crime thriller Thadayam crafted by debutant Navinkumar Palanivel with actress Sshivada as female lead. The Rajakili actor is now getting ready for the release of his upcoming life drama titled Carmeni Selvam. Newbie Director Ram Chakri has penned and helmed the film.
Actress Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli of Odu Raja Odu fame has played the female lead part in the entertainer. Story teller and actor Gautham Vasudev Menon will be seen in a key role in the venture. Carmeni Selvam is all set to release in theaters on 3rd of April. The makers had recently shared the teaser of the movie on social media. They have now unveiled the trailer of the film.

The two minute trailer of Carmeni Selvam opens to a shot of actor Samuthirakani asking his wife, “Shanthi, in case we experience major misfortune, can we manage to arrange money?” She responds, “I do not know.” He asks her, “Will Balu grow up and ask me, ‘what have you done for me?” She replies, “I get scared if I keep talking to you even for a few moments.” A montage follows, capturing various bonding moments between the family members.
In a scene actor Samuthirakani asks his son, “Balu, can we bunk class and roam around today?” He tells him, “Dad! You are a genius, dad” The shot cuts to actor Gautham Vasudev Menon asking him, “Have you borrowed a lot of Selvam?” He swiftly says, “I cannot reveal it, sir.” Following which we see him reassuring his wife, “Just like you desire we will buy a plot and build a house.” We then learn he is struggling to repay a loan he took from a relative.
Financial pressure mounts, and it starts to affect the family. It is established in a scene where he loses his temper with his wife, “It was you who desired. You put it in me, and made me mad. Everything is for you and Balu.” Subsequently, we witness him telling his wife, “We have to borrow, only if we borrow, we can become rich.” The trailer ends with him swearing, “Just listen to me for a month, I will change our lives.”
Star cast of Carmeni Selvam also comprises actors Abhinaya, Karthik Kumar, Sankara Narayan V, Madhumitha, Arjunan, Karan Chakravarthi, Kothandam, Badava Gopi, and Haritha Parakod. The music department of the film has been handled by Musicloud Studio & Technology which leverages AI to compose music.
Cinematographer Yuvaraj Dakshan has cranked the camera for the entertainer. Editor Jagan has been hired to work on the editing division of the venture. Art director G Durairaj has designed sets for the project. Action director Abishek Srinivas has engineered action blocks for the flick. Carmeni Selvam is backed by Arun Rangarajulu under the production label Pathway Productions.
On the work front, actor Samuthirakani is anticipating the release of his next movie Appa 2 headlined and crafted by himself with actors Gabriella Charlton and J Vignesh in lead roles. The Maargan actor is currently engaged in Arasan scripted by Vetrimaaran in which he will be collaborating with actors Silambarasan, Andrea Jeremiah, & Vijay Sethupathi, and Ivan Thanthiran 2 filmed by R Kannan in which he will be costarring with actors Sindhu Priya & Jagan.
