There are a handful of story tellers in Tamil cinema who have a trademark for themselves. Film Maker M. Rajesh is one such director who have patterned an image as a director who is good in cooking up comedy. The director ventured in to k-town with the cult classic romantic comedy flick Siva Manasula Sakthi which had actors Jiiva and Anuya Bhagwat in the lead roles. The film enjoyed a great reception amongst the young cinema crowd in the state and went on to be a decent commercial entertainer. Following the success of the drama, the film maker delivered another massive success in the like of Boss Engira Bhaskaran with actors Arya and Nayanthara. But the film maker has not had a solid commercial success since then. Now we have news of the director’s next project.
Director M. Rajesh who has been on a short break after his last movie Vanakkam Da Mappilei is back to work and has signed his next project. Actor Jayam Ravi will be playing the lead role in the flick. Musician Harris Jayaraj is set to compose the music for the film. The entertainer is produced by Screen Scene Media Entertainment Limited as part of their three-film deal with actor Jayam Ravi. The production house has announced the news officially with a poster on social media. Taking to their official twitter page, the production house shared a poster with actor Jayam Ravi, director M. Rajesh, music director Harris Jayaraj and wrote, “Happiness is announcing our next big combo! Our very own Jayam Ravi directed by Rajesh. And yeah! It’s a Harris Jayaraj musical!” Here is the announcement post.

It is said that the production house is in talks with actress Keerthy Suresh to play the female lead in the drama. Should the talks material, it will mark the first-time association of the actress with actor Jayam Ravi. The untitled project will also be the first-time director M. Rajesh is teaming up with actor Jayam Ravi. The rest of the cast and crew is expected to be announced soon. The project is set to go on floors by mid of this year. Director M. Rajesh’s strength is his ability to write comedy. Actor Jayam Ravi enjoyed a massive success with his last comedy venture Comali. But his last project Bhoomi did not fair well in the box office. Both the story teller M. Rajesh and actor Jayam Ravi are in need of a commercial success. We will have to wait to see how this combo works out.
On the work front, actor Jayam Ravi who was last seen in Bhoomi is gearing up for the release of his much anticipated epic historical fiction drama Ponniyin Selvan director by auteur Mani Ratnam which is currently in the post production stage. The Adanga Maru star is currently busy shooting for his next project Jana Gana Mana under the directorial of film maker Ahmed and for Agilan which is helmed by director Kalyan Krishnan.
