Actor Ajay Dhishan ventured into Kollywood last year with a character role in his uncle Vijay Antony’s Maargan helmed by Leo John Paul. He is about to turn a lead hero in his sophomore Tamil Telugu bilingual romantic project christened Pookie. The Telugu installment of the movie is titled Bookie. Cinematographer Ganesh Chandra is poised to become a director with the venture. Writer Puthiya Parithi has written the story, dialogues, and worked on the screenplay of the entertainer.
Actress R K Dhanusha will open her account in Kollywood with her female lead in the film. Veteran actor Pandiarajan will be seen in a prominent role in the drama. The makers have already publicized that the flick will release in theaters worldwide on 13th of February. They had recently released the first single from the drama on social media. Now they have unveiled the first promo of the film.
Taking to his official X account, actor Vijay Antony dropped the first promo video from Pookie and captioned it, “A Day in the life of Pookie No filters. No prep. Just vibes and mild emotional damage. Releasing worldwide on Feb 13. Pookie The Movie. Ajay Dhishan, R K Dhanusha, Pookie The Movie, Vijay Antony.” Here is the post made by the actor.
Two minutes into the first promo of Pookie begins with actress R K Dhanusha texting Ajay Dhishan, “Hey Pookie, my parents are not home. They will return only by night. I must speak to you in private. Do you want to come?” Reading the text Ajay Dhishan says to himself, “No matter what, today I must break up with her.” He then rehearses, “Listen Pookie it will not work out with us. Let us end things.”
He hesitates and says to himself, “It is very rude.” He tries a different modulation, “Listen Pookie the problem is not with you. It is with me. Let us break up.” He then says, “She will tell me the issue and we will solve it.” He then takes a cinematic route with actor Vijay’s reference, “Pookie, love is like a flower that blossoms in a plant. Nah . . . if I talk like this there will not be a break up.”
Next it is Ajith’s reference, “Pookie you are standing on the sea. I am standing on the shore. You do not understand the depth of it. Wrong, wrong, wrong . . . I should be the one on the sea and she on the shore, no?” He practices one more version while riding to her home, “Pookie I am not worth it. You will get a much better guy than me.”
In a funny turn of events, when he reaches her home, he proposes to her. Ironically, she tells him that she wants to break up with him, and says, “The problem is not with you. It is with me. I am not worth it Pookie. You will get a nicer girl than me.” She then pulls the Ajith Vijay reference on him. He comically reacts by threatening to commit suicide. She calms him down by confessing that it was a prank.
Star cast of the movie also comprises Telugu actor Sunil, Black Pandi, Vivek Prasanna, Radha, Lakshmi Manchu, Aaditya Kathir, Mridhula, Indumathi Manigandan, Anjali, Aishwarya Ragupathi, M. J. Shriram, Shiyara Sharmi, Ashwin Ram, Shaju, Bigg Boss Sathya, Manda Fack, Arun, Thanga Prakash, Priyanka, Rajamani Paati, Varun, and Sathya.
Musician Vijay Antony has scored music for the entertainer. Already a song titled ‘Love Advice’ is out from the album. He has also handled the editing division. Story teller Ganesh Chandra himself has taken care of the cinematography department of the venture.
Art director Pragatheeswaran Paneerselvam has fashioned sets for the flick. Action director Prabhu Jacky has choreographed action blocks for the film. The drama is funded by Vijay Antony himself along with his wife Fatima Vijay Antony under their home production Vijay Antony Film Corporation.
On the professional front, actor Ajay Dhishan is eagerly anticipating the release of his next venture Nooru Saami directed by story teller Sasi in which he will be seen in a supporting role alongside actors Vijay Antony and Kavya Anil.
