Actor Vijay Sethupathi had his last outing earlier this year in the romantic crime comedy drama Ace helmed by Arumuga Kumar with Kannada actress Rukmini Vasanth as female lead. The Vikram Vedha actor is now getting ready for the release of his upcoming project christened Thalaivan Thalaivii. Storyteller Pandiraj, who is known for entertainers like Pasanga and Marina, has written and crafted the project.
Malayalam actress Nithya Menen, who previously shared screen space with actor Vijay Sethupathi in the Malayalam movie 19(1)(a), has been cast as the female lead in the venture. The shoot for Thalaivan Thalaivii happened in various locations across Tiruchendur, Tiruchirapalli, Thoothukudi, and Madurai. The makers had recently shared the title teaser and first single from the drama on social media. They have now announced the release date of the venture.
Thalaivan Thalaivii is all set to release in theaters worldwide on 25th of July. Taking to their official X account, the team of Sathya Jyothi Films dropped a character introduction clip from Thalaivan Thalaivii and wrote, “Welcome you all to Hotel Raghavardhini. Thalaivan Thalaivii worldwide from July 25. Vijay Sethupathi, Nithya Menen, Sathya Jyothi Films, Pandiraj, Yogi Babu, Santhosh Narayanan, Vivek, Think Music, R K Suresh, Roshini Haripriyan, Kaali Venkat.” Here is the post made by the production team.
One-minute odd character introduction video opens to animated characters of Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen to the voiceover, “Welcome to hotel Raghavarthini.” Then introduces actor Vijay Sethupathi as ‘Aakasaveeran’ and Nithya Menen as ‘Perarasi’.
Yogi Babu is introduced as Chithirai. The clip presents all the characters that are part of its universe. The video ends with the voiceover of actor Vijay Sethupathi, “If you come to our Raghavarthini tiffin center. Yon can have affordable food, and leave with cent percent satisfaction. Will you come?”
Apart from Vijay Sethupathi, and Nithya Menen, the casting team of Thalaivan Thalaivii also has actors Yogi Babu, Chemban Vinod Jose, Kaali Venkat, Saravanan, Myna Nandhini, Roshini Haripriyan, Deepa Shankar, R K Suresh, Janaki Suresh, Sendrayan, Kalki Raja, Vinod Sagar, Aruldoss, and Muthukumar playing various supporting characters. Music composer Santhosh Narayanan has been engaged to work on the musical division of the flick. Already a number titled ‘Pottala Muttaye’ in the vocals of Santhosh Narayanan and Sublahshini, is out from the album.
Cinematographer M Sukumar has been behind the lens for the movie. Editor Pradeep E Ragav has been contracted to oversee the editing department of the flick. Art director K Veerasamar has engineered sets for the drama. Action director Kalai Kingson has designed action blocks for the project. Thalaivan Thalaivii is bankrolled by Arjun Thyagarajan and Sendhil Thyagarajan for their home production Sathya Jyothi Films along with Sai Siddharth and G Saravanan.
On the work side, actor Vijay Sethupathi is expecting consecutive releases in Train directed by Mysskin in which he has shared screen space with actors Narain, Ira Dayanand, & Nassar, and Pisasu 2 also helmed by Mysskin in which he has featured alongside actresses Andrea Jeremiah & Poorna. Beside these movies, the Maamanithan actor will soon join the sets of Telugu director Puri Jagannadh to shoot for their yet to be titled pan Indian film in which he will be collaborating with actors Tabu and Duniya Vijay.
On the other hand, actress Nithya Menen is eagerly awaiting the release of one of the most anticipated films of the year Idly Kadai directed and headlined by actor Dhanush. The Mersal star is presently shooting for couple of her Telugu dramas Ravi Varma crafted by director Lenin Rajendran in which she will be teaming up with actresses Lakshmi Sharma, & Mallika Kapoor, Praana scripted by V K Prakash, and a Kannada movie Ommomme helmed by storyteller Nagashekhar in which she will be co starring with actor Chetan Kumar.
