Actor Samuthirakani had his last outing in the period crime film Kaantha helmed by Selvamani Selvaraj with actors Dulquer Salmaan, Rana Daggubati, and Bhagyashri Borse in lead roles. The Idli Kadai actor is now gearing up for the release of his maiden web series christened Thadayam. Debutant story teller Navinkumar Palanivel has written and directed the project.
Malayalam actress Sshivada of Nitham Oru Vaanam fame will be seen in the female lead role in the series. Thadayam is slated to premiere directly on ZEE5 OTT platform from 27th of February. The production house has now dropped the trailer of the entertainer on social media.
Taking to their official X profile, the team of ZEE5 Tamil shared the trailer of Thadayam and wrote, “விசாரணை ஆரம்பம் Samuthirakani’s 1st ever web-series Thadayam. Premieres on 27th Feb On ZEE5! The two minutes odd trailer of Thadayam begins with a milkman calling out his customer for delivery. He then walks into the house only to find her slain. The shot cuts to the police station where a cop assures the newly appointed officer Sshivada, “There are no problems at this station. The team is very cooperative. Except for one person.” She intervenes, “Who is it, sir?” He names, “S. I. Athiyaman. He is always at the tea shop. He is a complete lunatic! He thinks he is James Bond.”
The shot cuts to actress Sshivada telling Samuthirakani, “You have got more complaints on you than the accused here!” Following which we have another cop telling her, “Madam, Athiyaman is not like what they are saying. Ask him about the case. He will tell you what others do not.” Then we have actor Samuthirakani inspecting the crime scene.
Following which he explains his observations to his team, “Two different footprints were found at the house where the murders took place. So, there were two of them.” Subsequently actress Sshivada asks him, “Without even the slightest regard for life he killed like an animal.” He responds, “Animals are way better, Ma’am! It will only kill for its hunger. But these guys are crueler than that.”
We have a scene where a superior officer reprimands the team investigating the case, “Four murders have taken place. What are you doing?” A cop informs, “First six murders have taken place in different jurisdictions.” Actor Samuthirakani says, “Totally 76 murders have taken place.” A perplexed Sshivada asks, “76 murders to hide 7 murders? Who are they, sir?”
The trailer ends with actor Samuthirakani asking, “They took such a big risk to commit the murder. They have only taken the Mangalsutra and the waist thread. Then, that question mark. Is it for the dead or for us?”
Apart from Samuthirakani and Sshivada, the star cast of the series also has actors Munnar Ramesh, Kotravai, Sundharpandyan, Vishakan, Prem, Abhishek Joseph George, Raj Tirandas, Pulipandi, Ravichandran, Dayalan, Karthi, and Suparna essaying various supporting characters. Malayalam music composer Vibin Baskar has scored music for the entertainer.
Cinematographer KK has taken care of the cinematography department of the project. Editor Dinesh Kumar has been brought on board to bring coherence to the venture. Art director G Durairaj has erected sets for the series. Stunt director Abishek Srinivas has choreographed action moves for the entertainer. The series is produced by Ajey Krishna under the banner house Cocktail Cinemas.
On the work side, actor Samuthirakani is awaiting the release of Appa 2 headlined and crafted by himself with actors Gabriella Charlton and J Vignesh as leads.
On the other hand, actress Sshivada will soon have successive release in Tamil in Karuppu filmed by RJ Balaji in which she has featured alongside actors Suriya & Trisha Krishnan, and Iravaakaalam scripted by Ashwin Saravanan in which she has shared screen space with actors Sharath Ravi & Wamiqa Gabbi. The Garudan actress is presently shooting for her next Malayalam entertainer L3 directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran in which she will be teaming up with actors Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and Pranav Mohanlal.
