Soundarya Rajinikanth started her career in Tamil film industry as a graphic designer, and later ventured into production. She started her own production house ‘Ocher Studios’, which bankrolled Venkat Prabhu’s ‘Goa’. Soundarya Rajinikanth debuted as a director with Rajinikanth’s motion capture film ‘Kochadaiyaan’ in 2014. After three years, she made a return to direction with the 2017 movie ‘Velaiyilla Pattadhari’ starring Dhanush and Amala Paul in the lead roles.
Now, Soundarya Rajinikanth is all set to return as a producer with her ‘May 6 Entertainments, which is all set to bankroll ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. The announcement regarding the new epic project was released today. This project will be based on the classic novel by Kalki. ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is planned to be shot as an MX Original web series bankrolled by Soundarya Rajinikanth’s ‘May 6 Entertainments’. With this she has joined the long list of stars who have been shifting to the OTT platform. This web series will be directed by debutante director Soorya Prathap.
An excited Soundarya Rajinikanth took to social media to share the news, which says, “Ponniyin Selvan is one of the greatest historical novels written in Tamil. It chronicles the power struggle and the socio-political landscape of the Chola Dynasty, and is a perfect amalgamation of an intriguing plot, romance, adventure, satire and an enduring battle for the throne.
