Actor Mirchi Shiva had his last outing last year in the crime comedy film Soodhu Kavvum 2 crafted by director S J Arjun with actress Harisha in the female lead role. Unfortunately, the drama did not replicate the success its predecessor enjoyed. The Idiot actor will soon open his score this year via the comedy movie christened Sumo. Apart from headlining it he has also written the dialogues and shaped the screenplay of the flick. Storyteller S P Hosimin, who had previously delivered projects like February 14 and Aayiram Vilakku, has conceptualized the story and directed the movie. Actress Priya Anand has once again teamed up with the actor following their successful collaborations in Vanakkam Chennai and Kasethan Kadavulada. Former Japanese sumo wrestler Yoshinori Tashiro will be making his debut as an actor in Kollywood. The venture went off floors back in 2019 and has been in production since. Finally, it has come close to release.
Sumo is all set to hit the screens worldwide on 25th of April. Meanwhile, the makers have now shared the trailer of the movie on social media. Taking to their official X handle, production team of Vels Film International dropped a special poster from the film along with a link to the trailer of Sumo and wrote, “Caution: Watching this trailer may cause sudden wrestling urges! Sumo Trailer (Ver 2.0) is OUT NOW!” Here is the post made by the actor.
One-minute odd trailer of Sumo starts with a voiceover, “Only with the blessing of God, you can be a sumo. To be a sumo, just physical strength is not sufficient. You need mental resolve.” Then in a shot we see actor Sathish saying, “I thought you would say a short story like Thalapathy . . .” Actor VTV Ganesh intrudes, “Little patience sir . . . I will finish my story quickly.” We then have a funny scene where we see actor Yogi Babu saying to Mirchi Shiva, “Would she have dropped her shawl on me from above without love?” He retorts, “Even if a crow drops different things from above daily, can people love the crow because of it?” The trailer ends with actor Mirchi Shiva cheering one of the competitors in a sumo match from the audience stand.
Apart from Mirchi Shiva, Priya Anand, and Yoshinori Tashiro, the star cast of Sumo also has actors Yogi Babu, Sathish, VTV Ganesh, Srinath, Nizhalgal Ravi, and Besant Ravi depicting various other supporting roles. The technical side of the movie has music director Nivas K Prasanna composing music for the drama. A song titled ‘Aazhiye’ is already out from the album. Rajiv Menon has been trusted with the cinematography department of the flick. Editor Praveen K L has been bestowed with the responsibility to trim the project. Art director Karthick has designed the background for the venture. Action director Pradeep has fashioned action moves. The flick is produced by Ishari K Ganesh under his home banner Vels Film International.
On the professional front, actor Mirchi Shiva is currently busy shooting for his next ventures Saloon helmed by Muthukumaran, Golmaal directed by Pon Kumaran in which he will be sharing screen space with actors Jiiva, Payal Rajput, & Malavika, and Kalakalappu 3 scripted by storyteller Sundar C in which he will once again be co starring with actor Vemal. Apart from these films, the Single Shankarum Smartphone Simranum star has his long-delayed drama Party filmed by Venkat Prabhu in which he has teamed up with actors Jai, Ramya Krishnan, Jayaram, Regina Cassandra, Sanchita Shetty, Sathyaraj, and Nivetha Pethuraj in the shelve awaiting release.
