Actor Vishal lastly entertained audiences in the action-comedy drama Madha Gaja Raja helmed by Sundar C with actresses Anjali and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar as female leads. The Rathnam actor is now gearing up for the release of his next action thriller christened Magudam. The Telugu version of the flick is titled Makutam. The drama also marks actor Vishal’s debut as a director. Writer Ravi Arasu has conceptualized the story of the film. Actor Vishal has co-written the movie’s dialogues with writers Pon Parthiban and Anand Kumaresan.
Actress Anjali of Angadi Theru fame has played the female lead role in the venture. Actress Dushara Vijayan of Sarpatta Parambarai fame will be seen as the second lead in the film. The drama was shot in various locations of Chennai, Ooty, and Kakinada. The makers have set July as the release window for the entertainer. Meanwhile, they have now shared the teaser of the project on social media.
Taking to his official X account, actor Vishal himself dropped the teaser of Magudam and wrote, “After nurturing this dream for 30 years, today my official directorial debut finally steps into the spotlight! One minute teaser of Magudam opens to actor Vishal in an aged character glaring at a human burning alive. He then lights his cigar in the flames. The shot cuts to him and actor Anandaraj, dressed in the 90s style, saluting at the camera. Following which we have the actor in a contemporary setting asking someone for permission to get into a room.
We then have the intro of actress Anjali as a fierce woman holding a knife in her mouth while adjusting her saree to fight someone. Then we have montage shots of high-octane action sequences and gangs shooting at each other. The teaser ends with actor Vishal mouthing, “Living in the ocean is one thing. Ruling it is another.” The teaser has a heavy hangover of the actor’s previous movie Mark Antony.
Apart from Vishal, Anjali, and Dushara Vijayan, the casting team of the movie also has actors Jaya Prakash, Vamsi Krishna, Ajay, Yogi Babu, Abu Salim, Arjai, Thambi Ramaiah, VJ Jhansi, Sabhumon, John Vijay, Anandaraj, and Padam Kumar essaying various supporting characters. Music director G.V Prakash Kumar has been contracted to compose music for the drama. This is his third association with actor Vishal following their successful outing in Naan Sigappu Manithan and Mark Antony.
Cinematographers Richard M Nathan & Abinandhan Ramanujam have worked in tandem to capture the movie. Editor N B Srikanth has been brought on board to bring coherence to the project. Art director G Durairaj has erected sets for the entertainer. Stunt master Dhilip Subbarayan has fashioned action moves for the flick. The entertainer is produced by B Suresh, R B Jeevan Choudary, Jithan Ramesh, and Jiiva under the production company Super Good Films. Magudam is the 99th project from the prestigious group.
On the professional front, actor Vishal is presently busy shooting for his next project Purushan crafted by Sundar C in which he will be sharing screen space with actors Tamannaah Bhatia & Yogi Babu, and Thupparivaalan 2 directed and headlined by himself with actor Prasanna as second lead.
On the other hand, actress Anjali is anticipating the release of Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai directed by Ram in which she has collaborated with actor Nivin Pauly. The Paranthu Po actress is now occupied with her next venture Eegai helmed by Ashok Velayutham in which she will be featuring alongside actors Santhosh Prathap & Abi Natchatra, and a Telugu flick Anandha Bhairavi scripted by Balaji K in which she will be costarring with actors Raai Laxmi & Thrigun. Actress Dushara Vijayan will soon have a release in GDN created by Krishnakumar Ramakumar in which she has starred with actors Madhavan & Priyamani.
