Actor Bharath Niwas was last seen on screens in the hyperlink thriller film Once Upon A Time In Madras crafted by director Prasadh Murugan with actresses Pavithra Lakshmi, Abirami, and Anjali Nair in lead roles. The Ippadiku Kadhal star is now getting ready for the release of his next movie christened Kaalidas 2. Director Sri Senthil who was in director’s cockpit for the first installment, has also written and directed the second part.
Actress Bhavani Sre of Viduthalai fame and Abarnathi of Maya Puthagam fame have been cast as the female leads in the drama. Veteran actress Sangita, who is known for her lead role in Vijay’s Poove Unakkaga, will be returning to Kollywood nearly after twenty years with a prominent part in the flick. The makers are currently working to freeze a date for release of the venture. An official release date is expected to be announced soon.
Earlier this year the production house had unveiled the first look poster of the drama on social media. They have not launched the teaser of the movie. Taking to his official X profile, actor Ravi Mohan shared the teaser of Kaalidas 2 and wrote, “Presenting the official teaser of Kaalidas 2. Wishing the entire team a big success! Can’t wait to see this mystery thriller unfold on the big screen. Kaalidas 2 Teaser. Congrats Bharath Niwas.” Here is the post made by the star.
The nearly two minute teaser of Kaalidas 2 opens to an aerial shot of a dense forest to a woman pleading to a cop via a phone call, “Sir, I am scared. I am really scared. Where are you sir? Please come.” But before the cop arrives to rescue her, she is hacked to death by someone. We then have the intro of Bharath who sees through a bullet pierced hole in a glass.
Then we have the voiceover of him saying, “Can every sin be forgiven . . .? But in the eyes of the law, there is a punishment for every crime. At the same time, the punishment for some crimes is not always delivered by external forces.” The teaser ends with actor Bharath seriously pondering over the case.
Earlier speaking about the entertainer, story teller Sri Senthil stated, “After the success of Kaalidas, I once again wanted to make a crime thriller about a police officer. Then it struck me why sketch a new cop character when I have the popular Kaalidas’s character in my hand. So, I decided to go for a sequel. The second installment will be a standalone story. The plot wades off from a typical thriller structure into more of a procedural film.”
Beside Bharath, Bhavani Sre, Abarnathi, and Sangita, the star cast of Kaalidas 2 also has actors Kishore, Suresh Menon, Prakash Raj, Anant Nag, Ajay Karthi, Raja Ravindra, and D M Karthik in various supporting characters. Music composer Sam CS has been brought on board to work on the musical division of the flick. Cinematographer Suresh Bala has taken care of the cinematography department of the venture.
Editor Bhuvan Srinivasan has been roped in to bring coherence to the drama. Action director Om Prakash has designed action blocks for the entertainer. Art director V K Natarajan has engineered sets for the movie. Kaalidas 2 is backed by N Yogeshwaran under the production house Sky Pictures Banner in affiliation with K Senthil for his home production Five Star.
On the professional front, actor Bharath is currently focused on his future untitled film helmed by director M Guru in which he will be sharing screen space with actors Sasikumar, Megha Shetty, Sathyaraj, & Malavika, and Munnarivaan scripted by Vijay Raj in which he will be performing alongside actress Janani.
On the other hand, presently actress Bhavani Sre is occupied in her yet to be titled drama crafted by Hiphop Tamizha Adhi in which she will be partnering with actor Ananth Ram, and another untitled flick directed by Dharani Rajendran in which she will be costarring with actors Samuthirakani and Seyon Purushothaman.
