Actor Vijay Sethupathi had a release recently in the romantic action-comedy flick Thalaivan Thalaivii crafted by story teller Pandiraj with Malayalam actress Nithya Menen in the female lead role. The drama opened to mixed reviews from critics. But has gone on to collect a whooping 75 crores so far. The Viduthalai actor is now gearing up for a release in digital space via his upcoming Tamil web series christened Muthu Engira Kaatan.
Director M Manikandan, who garnered audience’s attention with his impressive works like Kaaka Muttai and Kadaisi Vivasayi, has written and directed the entertainer. Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, who is acquainted with Tamil cinema audience via Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Aaranya Kaandam is said to have played a crucial role in the movie.
The entertainer went on floors with a small pooja ceremony back in 2023. Now we have news that the shoot for the drama has been wrapped with its final schedule in Vagamon, Kerala. Dubbing work for the flick has been underway in full swing.

Muthu Engira Kaatan is touted to be a rural action drama. The production house has unofficially shared a title poster of the film on social media. The entertainer will be available for streaming on Jio Hotstar from early 2026. The makers are currently working to reserve a date for release of the venture. An official announcement regarding the same is expected to be made soon.
Story teller M Manikandan and Vijay Sethupathi have previously teamed up for Aandavan Kattalai and Kadaisi Vivasayi. The latter went on to bag the National Film award. Hence, the expectations among movie buffs on the project have skyrocketed. Muthu Engira Kaatan will be actor Vijay Sethupathi’s first Tamil web series.
It is worth noting that the star is not a newbie to the digital space. He has already starred in a Hindi series christened Farzi alongside actors Shahid Kapoor, Kay Kay Menon, and Raashii Khanna. The project was directed by story tellers Raj and DK.
The production unit is tightlipped about the rest of the actors that are part of the cast. Music composer Rajesh Murugesan has been signed in to work on the musical department of the venture. Cinematographer M Sukumar has taken care of the cinematography division of the project.
Editor Pradeep E Ragav has been roped in to bring coherence to the series. Art director Immanuel Jackson has erected sets for the drama. Stunt master Kalai Kingson has designed action moves for the project. Muthu Engira Kaatan is produced by Arunmugakumar under the production label 7 Cs Entertainment.
On the professional side, actor Vijay Sethupathi is expecting consecutive releases in Train directed by director Mysskin in which he has partnered with actors Ira Dayanand, Narain, & Nassar, and Pisasu 2 also helmed by Mysskin in which he has shared screen space with actresses Andrea Jeremiah and Poorna. Apart from these movies, the Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara actor is presently focused on his next untitled pan Indian film scripted by Telugu director Puri Jagannadh in which he will be featuring alongside Bollywood actress Tabu and Kannada star Duniya Vijay.
On the other hand, actor Jackie Shroff is currently busy shooting for his future Hindi movie titled Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri scripted by director Sameer Vidwans in which he will be seen alongside actors Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday, & Neena Gupta, and Welcome To The Jungle filmed by director Ahmed Khan in which he will be partnering with actors Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Disha Patani.
