Actor Vijay was last seen on screens in the dark comedy drama Beast which hit the theaters under the direction of story teller Nelson Dilip Kumar with actress Pooja Hegde in the female lead. The movie was bestowed with negative reviews from both the audience and critics. Despite all that, the flick managed to do a decent business. The Thulladha Manamum Thullum actor has put that behind him, and is gearing up for the release of his upcoming project titled Varisu. Actress Rashmika Mandanna will be seen in the female lead part. Story teller Vamshi Paidipally has directed the entertainer. The flick which went on floors in the April of last year with a small pooja ceremony is now done and dusted, ready for release. The movie is slated to hit the theaters for Pongal this year.
Now, the production team has released the trailer of the flick on social media. Taking to their official twitter account, the production house shared the trailer of Varisu and wrote, “The boss has arrived. Varisu trailer feast is here nanba.” Here is the post made by the production house.

The two minute trailer opens with a voiceover, “A house is just made of brick and mortar. Is family the same?” In the visuals we see glimpses of happy moments in a joint family. Another voiceover goes, “Great sir. To see you live together happily as a joint family is a rare sight indeed. But what is most interesting is, you introduced only your 2 sons to me as your family. You did not mention a single word about your youngest son.” The scene cuts to what appears like the intro song with the lyrics, “Our model, mentor, our leader welcome, our leader, our hero we look up to our polestar, our radar, our identity, warm welcome to our hero for eternity.” When he is asked about his whereabouts by his mother, he says, “All places far and near are our area.” The trailer ends with the actor saying, “Every family will have its share of flaws, but we all have only one family.”
Story teller Vamshi Paidipally has penned the story of Varisu along with writers Hari and Ahishor Solomon. Writer Vivek has written the dialogues of the project. Apart from actors Vijay, and Rashmika Mandanna, the ensemble cast of the drama has actors R. Sarathkumar, Shaam, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Yogi Babu, Jayasudha, Khushbu Sundar, Sangeetha Krish, Ganesh Venkatraman, Sriman, and Samyuktha Shanmughanathan in various other supporting parts. Music director Thaman S has scored the music for the project. Cinematographer Karthik Palani has shouldered the camera for the film. Editor Praveen K. L has edited the venture. The entertainer is produced by Dil Raju along with Sirish for the production company Sri Venkateswara Creations.
On the work front, actor Vijay who is gearing up for the release of Varisu is currently busy shooting for his next project which is tentatively titled as Thalapathy 67 under director Lokesh Kanagaraj in which he will be co starring with actress Trisha Krishnan. Following it he will soon begin to shoot for his next venture tentatively christened as Thalapathy 68 under Atlee. On the other hand, actress Rashmika Mandanna who had her last outing in Tamil in actor Karthi’s Sulthan is currently busy shooting for her next Telugu venture Pushpa 2: The Rule helmed by Sukumar in which she will be collaborating with actors Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil, and for her Hindi project Animal crafted by film maker Sandeep Reddy Vanga in which she will be romancing actor Ranbir Kapoor. Apart from these films, the actress has a Hindi movie christened Mission Majnu crafted by Shantanu Bagchi in which she has shared the screen space with actor Sidharth Malhotra in the post production getting refined for release.
