Actor Kaali Venkat was last seen on screens in a supporting role in the web drama Test helmed by director S Sashikanth with actors Siddharth, R Madhavan, and Nayanthara in the lead roles. The film premiered exclusively on Netflix OTT platform. The Vaayai Moodi Pesavum actor is now gearing up for the release of his upcoming fantasy horror comedy movie House Mates. Debutant director T Raja Vel, erstwhile assistant of Ajay Gnanamuthu, has written and crafted the venture. Actress Vinodhini Vaidyanathan has played the part of actor Kaali Venkat’s wife in the drama. Actor Dharshan of Kanaa fame has essayed a prominent role in the flick. The production house is working to lock a date for release of the entertainer. An official announcement regarding the same is expected to be made soon.
Meanwhile, we now have news that actor and producer Sivakarthikeyan has bought the theatrical rights of the movie. The makers themselves have revealed the news on social media. Taking to their official X profile, the production unit of Sivakarthikeyan productions shared a short clip from the drama and worded, “House Mates – We watched it. We loved every bit of it. The unique concept, the entertainment and this new team’s sincere effort truly stood out and we knew we had to present it.” Here is the post made by the production team.

Nearly one-minute-long clip opens with a spooky background score to a dark empty house and moves in over cranking frames showcasing portions of the house. Then the tv turns on by itself and we see a slideshow of films produced and presented by actor Sivakarthikeyan. Finally announcing that House Mates will be presented under the banner. Earlier talking to a leading media house about the concept of the project, director T Raja Vel said, “We all would have had a special person at some point in life whom we miss. What if we are given an opportunity to encounter them again at a time, we miss them the most? This is the nub in which the entire story is predicated upon.”
Apart from Kaali Venkat, Dharshan, and Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, the casting unit of House Mates also has actors Arsha Chandini Baiju, Dheena, Ramesh Thilak, Suresh Chakravarthy, Master Henrik, and Abdool Lee depicting various supporting characters. Music director Rajesh Murugesan has handled musical instruments for the entertainer. Cinematographer M S Sathis has taken care of the cinematography department of the flick. Editor Nishar Sharief has been brought on board to chop and patch the drama. Art director N K Rahul has designed the background for the project. Stunt man Dinesh Kasi has choreographed action blocks in the movie. House Mates is backed by S Vijaya Prakash under the banner house Playsmith Studios in association with director S P Sakthivel for the production company South Studios.
On the work front, actor Kaali Venkat is staring at back-to-back releases in Mr. X directed by Manu Anand in which he has teamed up with actors Arya, Gautham Karthik, Anagha, & Manju Warrier, Aalambana crafted by Pari K Vijay in which he has performed alongside actors Vaibhav & Parvati Nair, Malai filmed by director IP Murugesh in which he has co starred with actors Anjali & Yogi Babu, Ranger scripted by storyteller Dharanidharan in which he has shared screen space with actors Sibiraj & Remya Nambeesan, Titanic Kadhalum Kavundhu Pogum helmed by N Janakiram in which he will be seen alongside actors Kalaiyarasan & Anandhi, and Bomb directed by Vishal Venkat in which he has collaborated with actors Arjun Das and Shivathmika Rajashekar.
