Sathyaraj’s Madras Matinee Trailer: An Absorbing Tale On Middleclass Life!

Veteran actor Sathyaraj last graced the silver screen earlier this year in the Bollywood action movie Sikandar helmed by A R Murugadoss with actors Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna as leads. The Baby and Baby actor is now set to have a release in Tamil cinema with his upcoming project Madras Matinee. He depicts the role of a writer named Jyoti Ramaya in the entertainer. Story teller Karthikeyan Mani has inked and helmed the drama. Actor Kaali Venkat has played one of the leads in the venture. Actress Roshni Haripriyan of Garudan fame will be seen in the female lead role in the entertainer. The production house had earlier announced that Madras Matinee will be released on 23rd of May. But it got pushed without a release date. They have now publicized that the entertainer will be out in theaters worldwide on 6th of June. 

The makers had recently released the title story video and first single ‘Enna Da Polappu Idhu’ in the voice of actor Vadivelu from the movie on social media. They have now launched the trailer of the flick. Taking to his official X profile, actor Arya dropped the trailer of Madras Matinee and captioned it, “The world of Madras Matinee is here – In theatres from JUNE 6th. Karthikeyan Mani – directorial. Madras Matinee. Madras Matinee From June 6.” Here is the post made by the actor. 

Nearly two minutes long trailer of Madras Matinee opens to actor Sathyaraj asking, “Mr. Gayle, an intelligent test of you. Where is the joy and adventure in middleclass families?” The shot cuts to a young man saying, “Yes, he is speaking correctly. No . . . no when I was in class tenth an earthquake hit Chennai and I was pooping in the loo. It was an adventurous experience.” In the subsequent scene, we hear a voice over, “Did you observe your father, he is repeating everything twice.” We witness actor Kaali Venkat reiterating every words twice. Then we have his young daughter complaining to him, “Dad, a fellow in my class called me black.” He responds funnily, “Who is it? Let me know. I will run him over with my auto.” Following which we have actor Sathyaraj saying, “There is no adventure, no action, no romance in middleclass life. So sad.” The trailer ends with him mouthing, “Slightly based on Kannan’s life. I present to you . . .”

Madras Matinee also stars actors Bhanupriya, Vishva, George Maryan, Madhumitha, Archana Chandhoke, Chaams, Geetha Kailasam, Shelly, and Sunil Sukhada. The technical side of the flick has music director K C Balasarangan handling the musical division of the venture. Cinematographer Dipak G K Anand has operated cameras for the drama. Editor Satheesh Kumar Samuski has been trusted with the editing department of the movie. Art director Jacki has designed sets for the flick. Stunt master Stunner Shyam has choreographed action moves. Madras Matinee is produced by Arch Thomason, Robert Martichenko, Corrinne Martichenko, Karthikeyan Mani, and Dev Ananth under the production banner Madras Motion Pictures. S R Prabhu and S R Prakash Babu have bagged the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of the film, and will be presenting it under their production house Dream Warrior Pictures. 

On the work front, actor Sathyaraj has a number of films lined up for release in the likes of Vaa Vaathiyaar filmed by Nalan Kumarasamy in which he has collaborated with actors Karthi, Shilpa Manjunath, & Krithi Shetty, Coolie crafted by Lokesh Kanagaraj in which he has performed alongside actors Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Upendra, & Shruti Haasan, Valli Mayil directed by Suseenthiran in which he teamed up with actors Vijay Antony & Faria Abdullah, Rowdy Baby scripted by J M Raja Saravanan in which he has co starred with actresses Sonia Agarwal, Hansika Motwani, & Meena, and Jackson Durai 2 directed by Dharanidharan in which he has shared screen space with his son Sibiraj.
