Prabhudeva’s Moonwalk Secures A Release Window!

Actor Prabhudeva had his last release in Bollywood via Badass Ravi Kumar scripted by Keith Gomes with actors Himesh Reshammiya and Simona J as lead characters. The Bagheera star will soon have his next release in Kollywood via the comedy entertainer Moonwalk. Manoj Nirmala Sreedharan, founder of Behindwoods, will exhibit his prowess as a director in Tamil cinema. He has also written the story of the movie. 

Malayalam actor Aju Varghese, who had his Tamil debut in Paranthu Po, has depicted a vital character in the project. Actor Yogi Babu will be seen in a humorous negative shade in the flick. The production house had recently released the music album in Mini-Cassette style. They have now publicized a release window along with introducing characters in the film. Moonwalk is set for a release in May of next year. 

Taking to his official X profile, actor Yogi Babu himself shared a couple of posters and wrote, “14 Crazy Characters of Moonwalk. A Full-length Comedy movie, in theatres – May 2026. Prabhudeva as Babootty – a Happy Young Film Choreographer. A R Rahman as A R Rahman – an Angry Young Film Director. Yogi Babu as Dubai Mathew – Babootty’s Ethiri No:1, Aju Varghesee as Lord Djokovic – Babootty’s Cousin, Arjun Ashokan as Luna – Babootty’s Cousin, Sathish as Jasmine – Babootty’s Friend. Revealing the friends and family of Babootty. Starring Prabhudeva. Directed by Manoj Nirmala Sreedharan. Music: A R Rahman. Prabhudeva will be seen as a young happy dance choreographer who goes by the name Babootty. A R Rahman as an angry young film director. Yogi Babu as Dubai Mathew, villain of Babootty. A R Rahman and Prabhudeva are working together nearly after two decades. Both the stars have delivered epic classic albums in Kaadhalan, Love Birds, Minsara Kanavu, Mr. Romeo, and Gentleman. 

Interestingly, A R Rahman has sung all songs which enfolds a unique theme in them. Yethu – A celebration of happiness, Mayile – A celebration of hard work, Macarena – A celebration of friendship, Tinga – A celebration of love, and Jiger – A celebration of life. Lyricists Arivu, Sathyan, Vivek, Vishnu Edavan, and Vignesh have inked lyrics for the tracks. 

Speaking in the audio launch event about why he sang all songs, A R Rahman stated, “I did what was asked of me. The director was very passionate about the plot. Hence, I agreed to his demand.” Story teller Manoj Nirmala Sreedharan said, “I made this film for Rahman sir. Would anyone like it if we make someone else dance instead of Prabhudeva when he is in the film? Similarly, I requested him to sing all the numbers.” 

Casting unit of Moonwalk also has actors Redin Kingsley, Arjun Ashokan, KPY Ramar, Mottai Rajendran, Nishma Chengappa, Satz, Dr. Santhosh Jacob, TRS Srinivasan, Ramkumar Nataraja, Sushmitha Nayak, Lollu Sabha Swaminathan, and Deepa Shankar. Cinematographer Anoop V Shylaja has been behind lens for the flick. 

Editor Raymond Derrick Crasta has been hired to edit the drama. Art director T Ramalingam has designed the background for the project. Stunt master Stunner Sam has choreographed action blocks for the venture. Moonwalk is backed by Manoj Nirmala Sreedharan along with Divya Manoj, and Praveen Elak under the banner house Behindwoods.  

On the professional side, actor Prabhudeva has a number of projects in his pipeline via Musasi directed by Sam Rodrigues in which he will be costarring with actress Leona Lishoy, Singanallur Signal helmed by J M Raja Saravanan in which he will be seen alongside actress Bhavya Trikha, Wolf filmed by Vinu Venkatesh in which he will be performing alongside actresses Anasuya Bharadwaj, Anju Kurian, & Raai Laxmi, a Malayalam drama Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer directed by Rojin Thomas in which he will be partnering with actors Jayasurya & Anushka Shetty, and a Hindi entertainer Maharagni: Queen of Queens directed by Charan Tej Uppalapati in which he will be associating with actress Kajol.
