Director Lokesh Kanagaraj lastly helmed the Rajinikanth starrer Coolie. The ensemble cast of the movie had actors Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, and Rachita Ram. The Master director is all set to make his debut as a lead hero in his upcoming action thriller entertainer DC. He has essayed a character named Devadas in the venture.
Story teller Arun Matheswaran, who has engraved a name for himself with his filmmaking style in Rocky & Saani Kaayidham, has penned and crafted the film. Writer Arun Ranjan has offered his assistance to shape the flow of the movie. Actress Wamiqa Gabbi of Modern Love Chennai fame has portrayed a character named Chandra in the flick. The makers have now unveiled the trailer of the drama on social media.
Taking to his official X profile, director Pa Ranjith dropped the trailer of DC and captioned it, “DC Trailer looks really good. Arun Matheswaran’s style and craft come through very well in the trailer. The visuals and sound design are impressive and set a strong mood throughout. Lokesh Kanagaraj looks intense and Wamiqa Gabbi has done a lovely job too. I hope the film turns out really well. Sun Pictures.” Here is the post made by the story teller.
Three minutes of an odd trailer of DC opens to a landscape shot covering the back of a car and a mountain in the distance to a group of people wailing. To a woman screaming, “You Prick.” We have a tag, ‘Evil is good. Good is evil.’ We have the intro of both the leads in typical Arun Matheswaran’s style. The shot cuts to a man saying, “I told you to leave, did not I? Go.”
Then we have the voiceover of actress Wamiqa Gabbi, “I do not know where to go.” Lokesh Kanagaraj asks her, “Why? Do not want to go to Calcutta and see your parents?” She responds, “They are the ones who sold me. Where are you going?” He tells her, “I do not know. It is a big world out there.” Then we have a scene where we see a cop say, “You will kill a cop. She will kill a doctor. The audacity. What is the name of the bitch?”
Subsequently, we have a slew of violent scenes of murders and chopping of body parts. In a shot we see actor Lokesh Kanagaraj telling a cop at gun point, “Her name is Chandra. She is not a bitch.” The trailer ends with him saying to Wamiqa Gabbi, “Come. I will leave you somewhere safe.”
The casting unit of the entertainer also includes actors Guru Somasundaram, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Sharath Ravi, Avinash Raghudevan, Parvathi, Kobisan Chandrakumar, and Jawahar Sakthi. Music composer Anirudh Ravichander has been hired to score music for the project. Cinematographer Mukesh G has taken care of the cinematography division of the flick.
Editor Y G K Prasanna has been brought on board to chop and patch the flick. Art director Kannan S has erected sets for the drama. Stunt director Prabhu C has choreographed action moves for the venture. DC is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the production company Sun Pictures.
On the work front, director Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently busy with his next directorial project tentatively christened AA 23 which will have actors Allu Arjun & Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles. He has also written, and is bankrolling a film that is set in his universe titled Benz which is directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan with actors Raghava Lawrence, Nivin Pauly, and Samyuktha in lead roles.
On the other hand, actress Wamiqa Gabbi will soon have her next Tamil release in Genie filmed by Bhuvanesh Arjunan in which she has associated with actors Ravi Mohan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, & Krithi Shetty, Iravaakaalam scripted by Ashwin Saravanan in which she has starred alongside actors Sharath Ravi & Sshivada, and a Hindi film Nikam helmed by Avinash Arun in which she has romanced actor Rajkummar Rao. The actress is now busy with her next Malayalam drama Tiki Taka directed by V S Rohith in which she will be working with actors Asif Ali & Kalyani Priyadarshan, a couple of Hindi projects Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling crafted by Vikas Bahl in which she will be performing alongside actor Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Badlapur 2 scripted by Sriram Raghavan in which she will be partnering with actor Varun Dhawan.
