Actress Keerthy Suresh was last seen on screens last year in the Bollywood action thriller Baby John scripted by Kalees with actors Varun Dhawan, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff in lead roles. The Saani Kaayidham actress will soon return to Kollywood with her upcoming comedy film Revolver Rita in which she has played the titular role. Story teller J K Chandru, who helmed the fantasy comedy Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham back in 2013, is set to make his comeback to the industry with the entertainer after more than a decade.
Veteran actress Radhika Sarathkumar has played a key role in the movie. Revolver Rita is also the title of 1970’s vintage classic film of the same name which had actresses Vijaya Lalitha and Jyothilakshmi in lead roles. The title teaser of Revolver Rita which was released by the production unit on actress Keerthy Suresh’s birthday showed her as someone hailing from a middle class family with a mysterious dark side. The film which went on floors back in early 2023 got wrapped in May of 2024.
The production team has now unveiled a release date announcement video on social media. Revolver Rita is all set to hit theaters worldwide on the auspicious day of Vinayagar Chaturthi, 27th of August. Taking to her official X account, actress Keerthy Suresh herself shared a couple of special posters from the movie along with links to release date announcement video in Tamil & Telugu and captioned it, “Rita is ready to roll babyyy. Revolver Rita from 27th August. Tamil Telugu.” Here is the post made by the actress.
Nearly one minute release date announcement video of Revolver Rita opens to an over-cranking shot of a bar setup with montages of a couple of gangsters smoking a cigar. The scene cuts to actor Suresh Chakravarthy taking in a woman’s voice on a call. It then introduces us to a wide range of quirky characters in its world. We finally have the intro of actress Keerthy Suresh who racks the slide of a gun, and gets ready to hop in a car with her girl gang. In a subsequent shot they get into a shootout.
Apart from actress Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Sarathkumar, Revolver Rita also has actors Super Subbarayan, Ajay Ghosh, Mime Gopi, John Vijay, Sunil, Redin Kingsley, Suresh Chakravarthy, Kalyan Master, Augustin, Kathiravan, Sendrayan, Gayatri Shan, Akshatha Ajith, Ramachandran, Kuhasini, and Blade Shankar depicting various supporting characters.
Music director Sean Roldan of ‘Kadhal Kanave’ fame has handled musical instruments for the flick. Revolver Rita will mark the second collaboration of him with actress Keerthy Suresh following their superhit album in Raghu Thatha. Cinematographer B Dinesh Krishnan has taken care of the cinematography division of the movie.
Editor K L Praveen has been brought on board to chop and patch the drama. Art director MKT has erected sets for the flick. Stunt man Dhilip Subbarayan has choreographed action moves for the venture. Revolver Rita is produced by Sudhan Sundaram under the production house Passion Studios in association with Jagadish Palanisamy for the production banner The Route. Netflix OTT platform has bagged the post theatrical rights of the drama.
On the professional side, actress Keerthy Suresh is currently busy shooting for her next woman centric drama Kannivedi helmed by storyteller Ganesh Raj in which she will be co starring with actress Namita Krishnamurthy & Rakshan, a Hindi project Akka filmed by director Dharmaraj Shetty in which she will be seen alongside actresses Radhika Apte & Tanvi Azmi, and a Telugu flick Rendu Jella Seetha crafted by Ramprasad Ragutu in which she will be romancing actor Naveen Vijay Krishna.
