Keerthy Suresh’s Dorothy Trailer: A Lifelong Friendship Fractures Under The Weight Of Societal Stigma!
Actress Keerthy Suresh lastly entertained audiences in the crime comedy drama Revolver Rita filmed by J K Chandru with actors Radhika Sarathkumar, Sunil, and Redin Kingsley in the lead roles. The Penguin actress is now looking forward to the release of her next social drama christened Dorothy. Director Karthik Subbaraj, who is known for movies like Jigarthanda and Iraivi, has inked and helmed the flick. Screenwriter Saravanan Chandran has assisted in molding the screenplay of the film.
Actors Sananth and Rishikanth will be seen in prominent supporting roles in the drama. Principal photography for the film took place mainly in Madurai. Dorothy premiered at Tiff on September 11th, and is now awaiting its theatrical release on 25th of September. Earlier, the makers had released a teaser and a couple of singles for the movie on social media. They have now shared the trailer of the entertainer.
Taking to their official X timeline, the team of Jio Studios dropped the trailer of Dorothy and captioned it, “Cinema in its purest, rawest form. Dorothy Trailer – Maestro Ilaiyaraaja Musical! A Karthik Subbaraj Padam! Dorothy in cinemas worldwide on 25th September 2026. The two minute odd trailer of Dorothy begins with two boys watching a B-grade movie in a theater. One of them gets shy and closes his eyes. To which the other tells him, “When we grow up, we too must kiss a girl like this. Pay attention.” Then, we have jump cuts of them as adults dancing, partying, and beating up others in the village. Following which an individual advises them, “Always stick together like this. Quit alcohol and enjoy life. It is a dirty world, kids. It will turn you against each other.”
One of them refutes him, “Come on. Why would we ever fight?” Then we have the intro of actress Keerthy Suresh. The teaser turns grim with a character denouncing, “Affection is nothing. Honor is everything. The rest is bullshit.” In a shot, a kid asks Rishikanth, “Why are you crying? Men do not cry.” A woman nearby tells him, “Who says only women must cry?” The teaser ends with actor Sananth whistling a classic MGR song.
Music director Ilaiyaraaja has written lyrics and composed music for the film. Two soundtracks ‘Kalyana Virundhu’ crooned by Yugendran Vasudevan, Anthony Daasan, & Priya Jerson, and ‘Muthumani’ sung by Ilaiyaraaja & Shweta Mohan, are already out from the album. Cinematographer S Thirunavukkarasu has cranked the camera for the drama. Editor Ganesh Siva has been roped in to trim the movie.
Art director Jyothish Keshav has erected sets for the film. Action master Dinesh Subbarayan has designed action blocks in the flick. The venture is funded by Karthik Subbaraj himself under the production company Dhammam Films, in association with Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain under the production label Sikhya Entertainment, along with Jyoti Deshpande for the production house Jio Studios.
On the professional front, actress Keerthy Suresh is anticipating a release across three languages in Tamil via Sathyavan Savithiri crafted by Praveen S in which she has worked with actors Mysskin & Shilpa Manjunath, in Telugu via Rowdy Janardhana helmed by Ravi Kiran Kola in which she has featured alongside actors Vijay Deverakonda & Rashmika Mandanna, and in Hindi via Raftaar created by Aditya Nimbalkar in which she has collaborated with actor Rajkumar Rao.
The Siren actress is now shooting for her next Tamil flick Kannivedi filmed by Ganesh Raj in which she will be starring with actors Rakshan & Namita Krishnamurthy, a Malayalam movie Thottam directed by Rishi Sivakumar in which she will be associating with actor Antony Varghese, a Telugu venture January 12 Vidudala helmed by Anil Ravipudi in which she will be seen alongside actors Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Venkatesh, & Krithi Shetty, and a Hindi flick No Entry 2 crafted by Anees Bazmee in which she will be costarring with actors Arjun Kapoor, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Kriti Sanon.
