A R Rahman Croons For An Entire Album In Prabhudeva’s Moonwalk!

Actor Prabhudeva had a release earlier this year in Bollywood via Badass Ravi Kumar crafted by Keith Gomes with actors Himesh Reshammiya and Simona J in lead roles. The Petta Rap actor will soon return to Tamil cinema with his upcoming movie Moonwalk. Manoj Nirmala Sreedharan, founder of Behindwoods, will make his debut as a film maker in Kollywood. He has also written the story of the entertainer. 

Malayalam actor Aju Varghese, who made his debut in Tamil this year via Paranthu Po, has played a pivotal part in the project. Actor Yogi Babu will be seen as actor Prabhudeva’s sidekick in the movie. The production house has plans to bring the venture to theaters in the summer of 2026. The audio launch event of the flick took place recently in Chennai. The makers have now unveiled the titles of the tracks with few snaps from them on social media.  

Taking to his official X account, actor Prabhudeva himself dropped a couple of special posters from the film and wrote, “Happy to Share All 5 Songs’ Posters of Moonwalk. Yethu | Macarena | Mayile | Tinga | Jiger. Moonwalk is a feature film, starring Prabhudeva. Directed by Manoj Nirmala Sreedharan. Music is by A R Rahman. Produced by Manoj Nirmala Sreedharan, Divya Manoj, and Praveen Elak. Yogi Babu, Aju Varghese, Arjun Ashokan, Satz, Nishma Chengappa, Sushmitha Nayak, Mottai Rajendran, Lollu Sabha Swaminathan, Redin Kingsley, Deepa Shankar, Dr. Santhosh Jacob, Ramkumar Natarajan.” Here is the post made by the actor.

Music director A R Rahman has teamed up with actor Prabhudeva nearly 25 years. They have delivered chartbuster classics in Kaadhalan, Love Birds, Minsara Kanavu, Mr. Romeo, and Gentleman. The songs in the Moonwalk album have interesting titles. Yethu – A celebration of happiness, Mayile – A celebration of hard work, Macarena – A celebration of friendship, Tinga – A celebration of love, and Jiger – A celebration of life. Lyricists Sathyan, Vivek, Vishnu Edavan, Arivu, and Vignesh have written lyrics for the songs. 

Talking in the event about his decision to lend his voice to all tracks in the album, A R Rahman revealed, “I did what was asked of me. The director was very passionate about the plot. Hence, I agreed to his demand.” Director Manoj Nirmala Sreedharan said, “I made this film for Rahman sir. Would anyone like it if we make someone else dance instead of Prabhudeva when he is in the film? Similarly, I requested him to sing all the numbers.”

Apart from Prabhudeva, Yogi Babu, and Aju Varghese, the casting unit of the drama also has actors Nishma Chengappa, KPY Ramar, Arjun Ashokan, Redin Kingsley, Satz, Sushmitha Nayak, Mottai Rajendran, Dr. Santhosh Jacob, Lollu Sabha Swaminathan, TRS Srinivasan, Deepa Shankar, and Ramkumar Natarajan depicting various supporting roles. Cinematographer Anoop V Shylaja has been behind lens for the flick. 

Editor Raymond Derrick Crasta has been signed in to chop and patch the entertainer. Art director T Ramalingam has designed sets for the film. Action director Stunner Sam has choreographed action moves for the venture. The film is bankrolled by Manoj Nirmala Sreedharan along with Divya Manoj, and Praveen Elak under the production house Behindwoods.  

On the professional side, actor Prabhudeva is presently focused on his next projects Musasi crafted by Sam Rodrigues in which he will be featuring alongside actress Leona Lishoy, Singanallur Signal helmed by J M Raja Saravanan in which he will be sharing screen space with actress Bhavya Trikha, Wolf scripted by Vinu Venkatesh in which he will be collaborating with actresses Anju Kurian, Anasuya Bharadwaj, & Raai Laxmi, a Malayalam drama Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer directed by Rojin Thomas in which he will be costarring with actors Jayasurya & Anushka Shetty, and a Hindi venture Maharagni: Queen of Queens filmed by Charan Tej Uppalapati in which he will be joining forces with actress Kajol.
