Actor Vetri entertained audiences earlier this year in the action drama Rajaputhiran directed by Mahaa Kandhan with actress Krishna Priya in the female lead role. The 8 Thottakkal actor will soon have yet another release in the upcoming crime thriller drama christened Muthal Pakkam. Debutant story teller Anish Ashraf, erstwhile assistant of director A R Murugadoss, has penciled and directed the venture.
Actress Shilpa Manjunath of Ispade Rajavum Idhaya Raniyum fame has essayed the female lead role in the entertainer. The production unit has already publicized that the drama will be making it to theaters on 1st of August this year. The audio launch function of the film took place recently in Chennai. Along with the music album the production team also launched the teaser of the flick.
They have now shared the teaser of the movie on social media. Taking to his official X account, music director and actor Vijay Antony dropped the teaser of Muthal Pakkam and captioned it, “Happy to launch the teaser of Chennai Files Muthal Pakkam. Wishing the entire team great success. August 1st release in theatres. Vetri, Shilpa Manjunath, Sinnathambi Productions, Magesh Das, Shandy Ravichandran, Redin Kingsley, Thambi Ramaiah.” Here is the post made by the director.
One minute teaser of Muthal Pakkam opens with a police dog trying to trace a suspect in a forest region. Then we have the intro of actor Vetri as a cop mouthing, “The killer is experienced and handles his victims with a sense of calm.” The shot cuts to him at the crime scene, where he says, “Not one but two murders have occurred here.”
In a scene he tells actor Thambi Ramaiah, “We should not run after the killer, but rather after the motives for the kill.” The teaser ends with actress Shilpa Manjunath trapped in a place late at night trying to reach the cops for help.
Speaking in the audio launch event director Anish Ashraf said, “The title ‘Muthal Pakkam’ denotes the initial details of a real-life crime incident that took place in Chennai. My intent was to make a feature film out of it, and deliver a social message that would resonate well with the audience. I am confident that the pacy screenplay and fabulous performances will offer the audience a great cinematic experience.”
Apart from Vetri and Shilpa Manjunath, the casting unit of Muthal Pakkam also has actors Redin Kingsley, Thambi Ramaiah, Subathra, Arun Raj, and Magesh Das essaying various supporting roles. Music director AGR has been roped in to work on the musical department of the movie. Cinematographer Arvind has taken care of the cinematography division of the venture.
Editor V S Vishal has been brought on board to oversee the editing division of the flick. Art directors Suresh and Venkat have designed the background for the drama. Stunt man Action Noor has fashioned action moves for the project. Muthal Pakkam is bankrolled by Mageswaran Devadas along with Shandy Ravichandran under the production banner Sinnathambi Productions.
On the professional front, actor Vetri is eagerly gearing up for successive releases in Iravu scripted by Jagadeesan Subu in which he will be seen alongside actress Shivani Narayanan of Bigg Boss Tamil fame, and Eerappadham Kaattru Mazhai directed by story teller R Saleem in which he has shared screen space with actress Deepthie Orintelu. Apart from these projects, the Red Sandal Wood actor has his long-delayed film Theenkirai crafted by director Prakash Raghavadass in which he has joined forces with actor Srikanth in the shelve waiting to see the light of day.
