Superstar Rajinikanth last graced the silver screen in the action film Vettaiyan helmed by T J Gnanavel with actors Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, and Rana Daggubati in lead roles. The Jailer star will soon be seen on screens in the upcoming mass action flick Coolie. Story teller Lokesh Kanagaraj has helmed superstar Rajinikanth for the first time in his career. Writer Chandhru Anbazhagan has written dialogues, and assisted in molding the screenplay of the drama.
Actress Shruti Haasan has depicted the female lead role in the film. Veteran actor Sathyaraj is said to have portrayed a negative role in the movie. Coolie has been shot in and around the neighborhoods of Chennai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, and Bangkok. The entertainer is poised to release in theaters worldwide on 14th of August in languages Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
The production house had released the first single ‘Chikitu’ from the flick on social media. They have now dropped the second track. Actress Pooja Hegde has danced for the number along with Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir. Taking to his official X account, music composer Anirudh Ravichander himself shared a special poster along with a link to the second single ‘Monica’ from Coolie and captioned it, “Monica is here to rock the dance floor. Sublahshini, Asal Kolaar, Vishnu Edavan. Coolie varaan solliko, worldwide on Aug 14.” Here is the post made by the music composer.
Music director Anirudh Ravichander is associating with superstar Rajinikanth for the fifth time after their chartbusters in Petta, Darbar, Jailer, and Vettaiyan. He has also sung the number with singer Sublahshini. Rapper Asal Kolaar has rapped for the song. The track is mixed by Vinay Sridhar & M Srinivasan, and mastered by Rupendar Venkatesh. Director Vishnu Edavan has written lyrics for the song.
Earlier talking about her experience on working with superstar Rajinikanth actress Shruti Haasan revealed, “Until Coolie my interactions with Rajini sir was minimal to just cordial formalities. I never really knew him that well. It was a good experience working with him in the film.”
Speaking about one of the things she admired about him, she disclosed, “Every artist needs to be appreciated to stay motivated. When his costars perform well, he would appreciate them without any hesitation. Receiving recognition from a star in such tall stature goes a long way for an artist.”
The ensemble casting team of the film also comprises Kannada megastar Upendra, Tollywood star Nagarjuna, Kaali Venkat, Soubin Shahir, Reba Monica John, Rishikanth, Monisha Blessy, and Junior MGR. Bollywood star Aamir Khan has essayed an extended cameo part in the flick.
Cinematographer Girish Gangadharan has been behind camera for the project. Editor Philomin Raj has been signed in to trim the venture. Art director P Shanmugam has fashioned sets for the movie. Stunt masters Anbu and Arivu have designed action blocks for the drama. The entertainer is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner house Sun Pictures.
On the professional side, actor Rajinikanth is currently working on his next movie Jailer 2 crafted by story teller Nelson Dilipkumar in which he will be partnering with actors S J Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa Menon, and Yogi Babu.
On the other hand, actress Pooja Hegde is eagerly awaiting the release of her upcoming Tamil film Jana Nayagan scripted by H Vinoth in which she has collaborated with actors Vijay & Shruti Haasan. The Retro actress is presently busy shooting for her future Tamil drama Kanchana 4 helmed & headlined by Raghava Lawrence with actress Nora Fatehi as second female lead, and a Bollywood project Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai directed by David Dhawan in which she will be romancing actor Varun Dhawan.
