Heroes of Tamil cinema love to play cop. For the mass overflow it facilitates, it has long remained a tradition in K-town. If we are to take a list of actors who have donned Khaki almost for a good part of their career, it sure will include the names of actors Vijayakanth and Sarath Kumar. The actor who ventured into the OTT space recently, is all set to wear the uniform once again for his upcoming untitled movie which is set to be directed by debutant film maker Dakshinamoorthy Ramar. Actor Gautham Karthik will be playing the lead role in the drama. The director of the entertainer has recently revealed some details regarding the project.
Talking to a leading media house, the storyteller stated, “Actor Sarath Kumar has played the cop role in many ventures. But the role he will be essaying in my film will be a lot different from what he has done so far in his career. Typically, we are used to seeing him as an upright police officer who is hellbent on his duty. But in my film, he breaks the law for his daughter. The film is about how he deals with the consequences of his action.” Speaking on how he managed to get the actor on board, he said, “I am a huge fan of actor Sarath Kumar. In fact, I wrote the character with him in mind. When I first approached him to star in the role, he said if I impress him in five minutes he would listen to the entire part. When I narrated, he was impressed, and he agreed to come on board. I am very happy to have him on board on my debut venture.”
The crime thriller is said to be a cat and mouse game between a cop and an accused played by actor Gautham Karthik. The shooting for the project is set to go on floors next month in Madurai. Apart from actors Sarath Kumar and Gautham Karthik, the flick has actress Janani Iyer playing the female lead role. The casting of the movie has actresses Raveena Ravi and Deepshika essaying vital roles. Music director Sam C. S. will be composing the music for the film. The rest of the technical crew will be zeroed in and announced shortly.
On the work front, actor Sarath Kumar who was last seen on screens in the web series Irai is gearing up for the release of the first installment of the epic historical drama Ponniyin Selvan helmed by auteur Mani Ratnam. He is currently busy shooting for his upcoming flick titled The Smile Man under the direction of film makers Syam and Praveen. Following which he will begin shooting for superstar Vijay’s Thalapathy 66 under the direction of story teller Vamshi Paidipally. Apart from these ventures, the actor has his long-delayed Tamil movie christened Rendavathu Aattam helmed by Prithvi Adithya and Kannada drama Raymo directed by Pavan Wadeyar awaiting release. On the other hand, actor Gautham Karthik who was last seen on screens in Anandham Vilayadum Veedu is currently busy shooting for his next entertainer christened Pathu Thala under the direction of film maker Obeli N. Krishna in which he will be sharing the screen space with actor Silambarasan.
