Newbie actor Santhosh is gearing up to make his debut in Tamil cinema via the upcoming romantic comedy drama christened Double Occupancy. Debutant story teller Aswin Kandasamy, who is known for shorts like Vesi & Dreal, has written and crafted the movie. Actress Samyuktha Viswanathan of Sweet Kaaram Coffee fame has played the female lead role in the film.
Actress Reshma Venkatesh of Karuppu Pulsar fame will be seen in a prominent role in the flick. Double Occupancy was extensively shot in and around the neighborhoods of Chennai. The production house has already announced that the entertainer will be releasing in theaters on 12th of June. They have now dropped the trailer of the drama on social media.
Taking to their official X profile, the team of Avni Cinemax shared a small clip along with a link to the trailer of Double Occupancy and worded, “Avalaa . . . Illa Avanaa? The answer isn’t as simple as you think! Double Occupancy Trailer. In cinemas from June 12. The two minute trailer of Double Occupancy opens to the voiceover of actor VTV Ganesh, “Brother, you look like a girl. But suddenly you changed into a man. I do not know what to say. I am confused.” The shot cuts to actress Samyuktha Viswanathan telling Santhosh, “You seem to be observing me for a long time.” He responds, “How can I be, without looking at you, Priya?”
Following which she notices women’s garments in his room and asks him, “Who’s attire is this? I do not think you are living alone.” He says, “I do not know how to explain it.” She then tells him, “I still do not know who you are. But clearly there is something else and someone else.” Then a frustrated Vinoth Kishan asks Santhosh, “What the hell is happening?” He discloses, “Morning 6 to evening 6, she is your Rajini. Evening 6 to morning 6 this Rajini.”
In a scene actor VTV Ganesh enquires Santhosh, “When you transform into her, what about your inner . . .” He intrudes, “There is so much to ask, but you want to know this?” He responds, “No. It is the doubt of the general audience.” The trailer ends with actor Santhosh furiously mouthing, “What now? You want to know if I am a girl or boy, right?”
Apart from Santhosh, Samyuktha Viswanathan, and Reshma Venkatesh, the casting unit of Double Occupancy also has actors Vinoth Kishan, Bagavathi Perumal, VTV Ganesh, Jeeva Subramanian, Vinodhini Vaidynathan, Vichu Viswanath, Moorthy, and Saratha depicting various supporting roles.
Music director Sam C S has worked on the musical division of the flick. Already two singles ‘Uyire’ sung by Adithya R K in the lyrics of Vidya Damotharan, and ‘Minnal Adikudhadi’ in the vocals of Adithya R K lyrics penned by Swetha Prabakaran, are out from the album.
Cinematographer Santhakumar Chakravarthy has taken care of the cinematography department of the movie. Editor Praveen Antony has been bestowed with the responsibility to bring coherence to the entertainer. Art director Senthil Raghavan has engineered sets for the movie. Action director Sakthi Saravanan has designed action moves for the venture.
Double Occupancy is bankrolled by ACS Arun Kumar under the production banner Benzz Media, in affiliation with Khushbu Sundar for the production company Avni Cinemax. Zee Tamil has purchased the satellite rights of the drama. Prime Video IN has bagged the digital rights of the project.
On the professional side, actress Samyuktha Viswanathan will soon have her next outing in Mr Bhaarath directed by Niranjan in which she has romanced actor Bhaarath, and a Malayalam film I’m Game crafted by Nahas Hidhayath in which she has costarred with actors Dulquer Salmaan, Kathir, & Kayadu Lohar.
The Chutney Sambar actress is now busy with her next movie Jackson Durai: The Second Chapter helmed by Dharani Dharan in which she will be associating with actor Sibiraj, and Texas Tiger scripted by Selvah Kumar Thirumaaran in which she will be featuring with actors Hridhu Haroon & Rohini.
