Actor Samuthirakani last graced the silver screens in the family movie Carmeni Selvam helmed by Ram Chakri with actors Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli and Gautham Vasudev Menon in the lead roles. Y Gee Mahendran was last seen in a supporting role in Manithan Deivamagalam scripted by Dennis Manjunath with actors Selvaraghavan and Kushee Ravi as leads. Now, both the actors are awaiting the release of their next drama christened Charukesi. Veteran story teller Suresh Krishna, who delivered the celebrated Rajinikanth starrer Baashha, has crafted the movie.
Writer Venkat has conceptualized the story of the flick. Lyricist Pa Vijay has assisted in writing the dialogue for the entertainer. Actress Ramya Pandian of Aan Devathai fame will be seen in a key role in the drama. Charukesi was initially slated for a release on 8th of May. The makers have now rescheduled the release to 12th of June. They had recently unveiled the teaser of the movie on social media. Now, they have dropped the trailer of the film.

One minute of the trailer of Charukesi starts with a doctor explaining about the health condition of Y Gee Mahendran to his relatives, “Charukesi collapsed. He is heading in to the fourth stage of Alzheimer’s. He could even forget singing.” Then we have montage shots establishing actor Y Gee Mahendran as a celebrated singer. Following which we have his son insulting their car driver.
Then we have the voiceover of Y Gee Mahendran saying, “My son met a woman on his own and got married.” The shot cuts to his son telling him, “If you like, bless us. Her name is Gauthami.” The trailer takes a serious turn when his daughter in law behaves arrogantly towards him. In a scene she tells him, “There are many games to be played with you.” The trailer ends with actor Sathyaraj telling Y Gee Mahendran, “Leave everything else. But do not quit music.”
The star cast of the project also includes actors Suhasini Maniratnam, Jayaprakash, Preetika, Thalaivasal Vijay, Rajayyappa, Dheena, Sathyaraj, Madhuvanti, and Rithvik. Veteran music director Thenisai Thendral Deva has handled musical gear for the entertainer. Cinematographer Sanjay B L has taken care of the cinematography division of the venture.
Editor Richard has been hired to bring coherence to the entertainer. Art director Vasudhevan has designed sets for the flick. Stunt director Sudesh has choreographed action moves for the drama. The project is bankrolled by R Arun under the production company E5 Entertainments.
On the work side, actor Samuthirakani will soon have his next release in Appa 2 headlined and helmed by himself with actors Gabriella Charlton and J Vignesh in lead roles, and in Telugu cinema via Rowdy Janardhana crafted by Ravi Kiran Kola in which he has shared screen space with actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna. The Thondan actor is presently occupied in his next project Arasan scripted by Vetrimaaran in which he will be partnering with actors Silambarasan, Vijay Sethupathi, & Andrea Jeremiah, and Ivan Thanthiran 2 filmed by R Kannan in which he will be performing alongside actors Sindhu Priya & Jagan.
On the other hand, actress Ramya Pandian will soon have a release in Idumbankaari helmed by Arul Ajith in which she has joined forces with actors Sshivada, Gopinath Chandran, and Abhishek Joseph George. The Joker actress is now busy with her next entertainer Arulvaan directed by Ganesh Vinayak in which she will be starring alongside actor Arulnithi.
