Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 Has Locked In Its Release Date!
Actor Rajinikanth had his last outing in the action thriller film Coolie crafted by Lokesh Kanagaraj with actors Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan in lead roles. The Darbar actor is now gearing up for the release of his upcoming action-comedy movie Jailer 2. Director Nelson Dilipkumar, who served as the director for the first part, has penned and helmed the second installment as well. Actress Ramya Krishnan who depicted the role of Rajinikanth’s wife in the first edition has reprised her role in the sequel.
Actor S J Suryah is touted to have portrayed the baddie in the flick. Jailer 2 has been shot in several areas in Chennai, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Attappadi, Mysore, and Goa. Earlier, the makers had scheduled to release the film on 12th of June. But it got pushed due to unknown reasons. We now have news that the drama will be releasing in theaters worldwide on 15th of October in languages Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. The production house themselves has publicized the news on social media.
Taking to their official X account, the production team of Sun Pictures shared a special announcement clip and wrote, “One name to rule the game! Jailer 2 storms into theatres worldwide on October 15. Jailer 2 From Oct 15, Rajini The Jailer 2 From Oct 15. Rajinikanth, Nelson Dilipkumar, Anirudh Ravichander, Vijay Kartik Kannan, R Nirmal, Chethan D ’Souza, Jani, D R K Kiran, Pallavi Singh, Suren, Sivam C Kabilan, Riaz K Ahmed.” Here is the post made by the production unit.
A nearly one minute odd release announcement video opens to actor Vinayakan mouthing, “You cannot live peacefully after killing me. There is a whole world behind me, Jailer. A big network. You will never know who will come after you when. Your life will become hell.” The shot cuts to a close-up eye shot of Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu. Then, actor Rajinikanth is introduced via a long shot, standing on a runway with his back to the camera.
The star cast of Jailer 2 also includes Bollywood actress Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mirnaa Menon, Anna Rajan, Kottayam Nazeer, Yogi Babu, Sujith Shanker, Rithu Rocks Rithvik, Sunil Sukhada, Jatin Sarna, Ramachandran Durairaj, Namo Narayana, Praveen Gadkar, Bjorn Surrao, and Abhishek Mishra. Superstars of various cine industries Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Jackie Shroff, Hrithik Roshan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Vinayakan have played cameo roles in the entertainer.
Music composer Anirudh Ravichander has been roped in to handle musical gear for the film. He is collaborating with actor Rajinikanth for the sixth time after their blockbuster albums in Petta, Darbar, Jailer, Vettaiyan, and Coolie. Cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan has taken care of the cinematography division of the drama.
Editor R Nirmal has been bestowed with the responsibility to chop and patch the entertainer. Art director D R K Kiran has erected sets for the flick. Action director Chethan D’Souza has fashioned action blocks for the venture. Jailer 2 is funded by Kalanithi Maran under his home banner Sun Pictures.
On the work side, actor Rajinikanth is currently busy shooting for his next movie christened Dharman crafted by Ashwath Marimuthu in which he will be sharing screen space with actors Simran, Raashii Khanna, & Yogi Babu. Apart from this film, the Petta actor has his highly anticipated untitled venture which will have him reuniting with actor Kamal Hassan in the direction of Nelson Dilipkumar in pre-production stage.
On the other hand, actor S J Suryah will soon grace the silver screen in the spy thriller Sardar 2 directed by P S Mithran in which he has teamed up with actors Karthi, Rajisha Vijayan, & Malavika Mohanan. The Love Insurance Kompany actor is presently occupied in his future movie Bro Code helmed by Karthik Yogi in which he will be starring with actor Ravi Mohan, and Killer helmed and headlined by himself with actress Preethi Asrani in the female lead role.
