Lokesh Kanagaraj’s DC Release Trailer: Stuck In Their Traumatic Past, Lost Souls Find Peace In Each Other!
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has inscribed his name in Tamil cinema industry with his craft as a story teller. The Leo director has previously made guest appearances in Master and Singapore Saloon. He is now enthusiastically awaiting the release of the upcoming action thriller film DC in which he has portrayed the lead role named Devadas. Director Arun Matheswaran, who has a following for his grim and gritty filmmaking style in Rocky & Saani Kaayidham, has written and helmed the flick.
He has co-written the movie’s dialogues with writer Franklin Jacob. Writer Arun Ranjan has helped structure the flow of the drama. Actress Wamiqa Gabbi of Modern Love Chennai fame will be seen in a character called Chandra in the movie. DC is scheduled to release in theaters worldwide on 7th of August. The makers have been aggressively promoting the film on social media with its soundtracks and a trailer. They have now unveiled a release trailer for the drama.
Taking to their official X account, team of Sun pictures shared the release trailer of DC and captioned it, “Brace yourself for a storm of love, action, and madness. The DC Release Trailer is out now!! DC releasing worldwide August 7th. Lokesh Kanagaraj, Arun Matheswaran, Anirudh Ravichander, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sanjana, Mukesh G, Prasanna G K, Kannan S, Prabhu C, Sivam C Kabilan, Kuchirayar, Riaz K Ahmed, DC From August 7.” Here is the post made by the production unit.
The release trailer of DC, which is little over two minutes long, begins with a view of a calm ocean from the shore and shows actress Wamiqa Gabbi walking in the water. Then we have a voiceover, “I hope you were briefed about everything. In one instance, a team stole our department’s discarded guns. In another case, a sub inspector was smashed by a hammer and was brutally murdered!”
In a shot actress Wamiqa Gabbi tells Lokesh Kanagaraj, “You hesitate to tell the truth to those you know. But you can pour your heart out to a stranger.” He asks, “How?” She responds, “It is the courage that stems from anonymity.” Subsequently, in a scene actor Lokesh Kanagaraj says, “To the police, we are rowdies, gangsters, and extremists.” Then we have a cop asking him, “You have grown to kill police, haven’t you?”
Following which a character articulates, “When a crime is committed, the police step in to solve it. But when the police themselves commit a crime, who would step in to question it?” There is a scene where a cop swears to Lokesh Kanagaraj, “Glaring at me? I will ruin her in front of your eyes.” The release trailer ends with actress Wamiqa Gabbi mouthing, “I will not let you die, until I am alive.”
Musician Anirudh Ravichander has composed music for the entertainer. Already five songs ‘Aint Nobody’ sung by Anirudh Ravichander & Ram Kumar, ‘Bloody Valentine’, ‘Raga Of Revenge’ crooned by Faraz, ‘Hangova’ in the voice of Anirudh Ravichander, and ‘Bum Baa Diga Diga’ in the vocals of Vedan & Anirudh Ravichander rap portion penned by Vedan, are already out from the album. Lyricist Heisenberg has penned lyrics for all tracks.
The casting team of the movie also includes actors Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Guru Somasundaram, Parvathi, Sharath Ravi, Avinash Raghudevan, Kobisan Chandrakumar, and Jawahar Sakthi. Cinematographer Mukesh G has cranked cameras for the venture. The editing division of the drama has been handed over to editor G K Prasanna. Art director Kannan S has built sets for the project. Action director Prabhu C has choreographed action moves for the film. The entertainer is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the production banner Sun Pictures.
On the work side, director Lokesh Kanagaraj is back to directing his upcoming Telugu flick provisionally titled AA 23, starring actors Allu Arjun & Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles. He is concurrently funding a project set in his universe titled Benz, which is directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan and features an ensemble cast including actors Raghava Lawrence, Jayam Ravi, Nivin Pauly, and Samyuktha.
On the other hand, actress Wamiqa Gabbi is expecting releases in multiple languages in Tamil via Genie crafted by Bhuvanesh Arjunan in which she has performed with actors Ravi Mohan, Krithi Shetty, & Kalyani Priyadarshan, Iravaakaalam helmed by Ashwin Saravanan in which she has worked with actors Sharath Ravi & Sshivada, in Malayalam via Tiki Taka filmed by V S Rohith in which she has starred alongside actors Asif Ali & Kalyani Priyadarshan, and in Hindi via Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story created by Avinash Arun in which she has featured with actor Rajkummar Rao. The actress is now busy with her Telugu film G2 scripted by Vinay Kumar Goodachari in which she will be romancing actor Adivi Sesh, and a Hindi movie Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling directed by Vikas Bahl in which she will be associating with actor Siddhant Chaturvedi.
