Actor Kathir was last seen on screens in Malayalam cinema last year on his debut action thriller movie Meesha scripted by Emcy Joseph with actors Hakim Shahjahan and Shine Tom Chacko in lead roles. The Pariyerum Perumal actor is now eagerly anticipating the release of his upcoming web series christened Lingam. Story teller Lakshmi Saravanakumar, who previously served as one of the writers for Rajinikanth’s 2.0, has crafted the series along with director Prasanth Pandiyaraj.
Writer Lakshmi Saravanakumar has also written the story of the project. Actress Divya Bharathi of Bachelor fame has essayed the female lead role in the entertainer. The shoot for the series took place across multiple parts of Chennai. The production house has already publicized that the series will be available for streaming on JioHotstar from 26th June. Meanwhile, they have now released the trailer of the venture on social media.
Taking to their official X profile, team of JioHotstar dropped the trailer of Lingam and captioned it, “விளையாட்டு வினையான ஒரு ரத்த சரித்திரம். One minute of the trailer of Lingam begins with actor Kathir narrating to actress Divya Bharathi, “Becoming a policeman is my childhood dream. I asked the coach. He told me to win this match and meet the owner with the cup. This match is my only hope. What if something bad . . .” The scene shifts rapidly through jump cuts of gruesome violence. It establishes actor Kathir as a ruthless and most feared gangster.
In a shot we have a mobster swearing, “I will kill him with my own bare hands. I want the heads of those two.” Following which we witness actor Vemal telling Kathir, “I should have seen you as a policeman but I am seeing you as a murder.” The trailer ends with an anxious and depressed Kathir suffering inside a prison cell.
Actor Kathir is not new to the digital space. He has previously headlined the popular crime suspense thriller franchise Suzhal: The Vortex created by directors Pushkar and Gayathri. Apart from Kathir and Divya Bharathi, the star cast of the series also has actors Nikhila Sankar, Poornima Ravi, Lakshmi Saravanakumar, Ragu Esaki, and Bose Venkat playing various supporting roles. Actor Vemal will be seen in an extended cameo role in the project. Music director Nivas K Prasanna has been roped in to handle musical gear for the drama.
Cinematographer Dinesh Kumar Purushothaman has worked on the cinematography division of the film. Editor Ganesh Siva has been bestowed with the responsibility to chop and patch the venture. Art director G Durairaj has engineered sets for the entertainer. Action director Ramkumar has designed action moves for the venture. The drama is bankrolled by B Srinivasan under the production company Vikatan Televistas.
On the professional front, actor Kathir will soon have his next release in Malayalam cinema via I’m Game directed by Nahas Hidhayath in which he will be seen alongside actors Dulquer Salmaan & Kayadu Lohar. The Vikram Vedha actor is currently busy shooting for his next venture Maanavan helmed by S L S Henry in which he will be teaming up with actors Yuvalakshmi & Mahendran, and Manjanathi crafted by Mari Selvaraj in which he will be partnering with actresses Priyanka Arulmohan & Kayadu Lohar.
On the other hand, actress Divya Bharathi will soon have her next outing in Tamil via Madhil Mel Kaadhal helmed by story teller Anjana Ali Khan in which she has shared screen space with actors Mugen Rao & Sakshi Agarwal.
