Karthik Subbaraj’s Jigarthanda 2 Character Introduction Teaser Is Out!

Director Karthik Subbaraj garnered the attention of the Tamil audience right away in his debut flick Pizza which had actors Vijay Sethupathi and Ramya Nambeesan in the lead roles. The film enjoyed a great reception among the audience. His sophomore project Jigarthanda with actors Siddharth and Bobby Simha in the main roles received critical acclamations, and went on to be a cult classic of Tamil cinema. Director Karthik Subbaraj’s last directorial was the crime drama Mahaan which had actors Chiyaan Vikram and his son Dhruv Vikram in the lead roles. The entertainer did not live up to the expectations of the audience, and as the result did not do well in the box office. Now the storyteller has moved on, and has gotten himself busy with his next project which is set to be the sequel of Jigarthanda. Actors Raghava Lawrence and S J Suryah will be playing the lead roles in the flick. 

The entertainer recently went on floors with a small pooja ceremony. The production unit has shared a character introduction video on social media. Director Karthik Subbaraj himself has unveiled the teaser. Taking to his official twitter account, the film maker dropped the teaser and wrote, “Jigarthanda DoubleX. Here is a kind of . . . teaser. Starring Raghava Lawrence and S J Suryah. A Santhosh Narayanan musical. Produced by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam. Stone Bench. S Thirunavukkarasu sir visuals.” Here is the post made by the director.

The three minutes teaser video opens with actor S J Suryah walking towards what appears to be a boundary marker with a harmonica in his hand, he then sits on the stone, and starts to play it. Meanwhile, on the parallel, the scene cuts to actor Raghava Lawrence sitting inside a small workshop making a blade. He comes out of the workshop with a gun rolling on his finger, to a frantic background score. The teaser has engineered high expectations among the audience. Just like its predecessor, predominant portions of the movie are set to be shot in and around the city of Madurai. Director Karthik Subbaraj has a habit of completing his projects quickly. There are talks that the production house is in plans to wrap the flick as soon as possible, and bring it to the theaters for the summer holidays of 2023. 

Apart from actors Raghava Lawrence and S J Suryah, Jigarthanda DoubleX has actress Nimisha Sajayan essaying the female lead role. The rest of the cast that will be part of the drama is expected to be finalized, and announced soon. Music director Santhosh Narayanan has once again teamed up with Karthik Subbaraj, and will be scoring the music for the movie. Cinematographer S Thirunavukkarasu will be shouldering the camera for the flick. The entertainer will be bankrolled by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam under the production label Stone Bench Films. 

On the work front, actor Raghava Lawrence who had his last outing in the horror franchise Muni 4: Kanchana 3 is currently busy shooting for the sequel of Chandramukhi under the direction of story teller P. Vasu, for Rudhran helmed by S Kathiresan in which he will be co starring with actress Priya Bhavani Shankar, and for Adhigaram crafted by Durai Senthilkumar. Auteur Vetrimaaran has penned the story for the venture. The actor will soon begin to shoot for his next venture christened Durga which is set to be filmed by director Kathiresan. 

On the other hand, actor S J Suryah who was last seen on screens in the comedy drama Kadamaiyai Sei is currently busy shooting for his next venture christened Bommai helmed by storyteller Radha Mohan in which he will be seen alongside actress Priya Bhavani Shankar, for Mark Anthony crafted by film maker Adhik Ravichandran of AAA fame in which he will be sharing the screen space with actor Vishal, and for a Telugu project tentatively titled as RC 15 helmed by director S Shankar in which he will be collaborating with actors Ram Charan, and Kiara Advani. Beside these ventures, the actor has a couple of his delayed projects in the likes of Uyarndha Manithan filmed by Tamilvannan, and Iravaakaalam crafted by director Ashwin Saravanan.
