Actor Kamal Haasan last graced the silver screens in the vigilante action drama Indian 2 crafted by Shankar. Actor Silambarasan had his last outing in the neo noir action thriller Pathu Thala directed by Obeli N Krishna with actress Priya Bhavani Shankar in the female lead role. Now, both the stars are eagerly awaiting the release of their much-anticipated gangster action film Thug Life. Story teller Mani Ratnam has helmed the movie. He has worked on the script of the drama with actor Kamal Haasan. Actress Trisha Krishnan will be seen in the female lead role in the entertainer. Bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra is set to open her account in Kollywood with her role in the flick. The shoot for the project took place in various locations of Kanchipuram, Chennai, New Delhi, Pondicherry, and Siberia. Thug Life is poised to hit screens worldwide on 5th of June.
Earlier this year the makers had shared the first single ‘Jinguchaa’ from the flick on social media which went viral and became a sensation. They have now launched the trailer of the entertainer. Taking to his official X account, actor Silambarasan dropped a special poster along with a link to the trailer of Thug Life and worded, “Thug Life Trailer Out Now. Thugfluencers. Two minutes long trailer of Thug Life opens to a young-looking Kamal Haasan telling a child, “You saved my life. You protected me from the lord of death. Our two destinies were written as one. You and I are now bound together as one. Till the very end.” The screen cuts to actor Kamal Haasan saying to Silambarasan, “If I jump 8 ft, you will jump 18.” To which he responds, “16.” Subsequently in a scene we witness actor Kamal Haasan instructing his gang members, “I will handle things from inside. Amaran will handle the rest.” The character played by actor Nassar seems to be upset by this arrangement and he says, “If Amaran is the boss, do I just watch?” The trailer ends with actor Kamal Haasan saying, “Death and I have been playing this game. Who wins?” The trailer has garnered millions of views in a short span, and engendered massive expectations.
The ensemble cast of Thug Life also comprises actors Nassar, Ashok Selvan, Bagavathi Perumal, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Abhirami, Pankaj Tripathi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Vadivukarasi, Chinni Jayanth, Tanikella Bharani, Ali Fazal, Chetan, Baburaj, Nithya Shree, Srikanth Menon, Vaiyapuri, Rohit Saraf, and Rajshri Deshpande. The technical side of the movie has music director A R Rahman composing music for the drama. Ravi K Chandran has been trusted with the cinematography department of the flick. Editor A Sreekar Prasad has been bestowed with the responsibility to trim the project. Art director R Saravana Abiraman has erected sets for the venture. Action directors Anbu and Arivu have fashioned action moves. Thug Life is produced by Kamal Haasan and R Mahendran for their production banner Raaj Kamal Films International in affiliation with Mani Ratnam and Siva Ananth for the banner house Madras Talkies in collaboration with Udhayanidhi Stalin for his production house Red Giant Movies. Netflix OTT streaming platform has bagged the film’s digital right for a colossal price of INR 149.7 crore.
On the professional front, actor Kamal Haasan will have his next outing in the vigilante action thriller drama Indian 3 helmed by Shankar in which he has teamed up with actors Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, S J Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, and Priya Bhavani Shankar. On the other hand, actor Silambarasan is presently occupied in his future movies God Of Love crafted by Ashwath Marimuthu, a flick tentatively titled STR 48 scripted by Desingu Periyasamy, and a film tentatively christened STR 49 filmed by Ramkumar Balakrishnan in which he will be co starring with actress Sai Pallavi.
