Actor Bharath Niwas had his last outing in the hyperlink thriller movie Once Upon A Time In Madras helmed by Prasadh Murugan with actresses Abirami, Pavithra Lakshmi, and Anjali Nair in lead roles. Actor Samuthirakani was last seen on screens in a supporting role in the supernatural crime thriller Maargan crafted by Leo John Paul with actor Vijay Antony as lead. Both the stars have collaborated for their upcoming period drama titled Veeravanakkam.
Malayalam story teller Anil V Nagendran, who is known for helming Malayalam films like Vasanthathinte Kanal Vazhikalil and Thee, will make his debut in Tamil cinema with the entertainer. The production house has now launched the first look poster, and announced the release date of the drama on social media. Veeravanakkam is all set to release in theaters on 29th of August this year.
Taking to his official X profile, actor Kayal Devaraj dropped the first look poster of the flick and wrote, “சுதந்திரத்தை போராடி பெற்றுத்தந்த போராளிகளுக்கு வீரவணக்கம் Veeravanakkam – August 29th release in cinemas. Samuthirakani, Bharath, Anil V Nagendran, Ramesh Pisharody, Ram Chennai, Ritheesh, Team Aim.” Here is the post made by the actor.

The first look poster has a resolute Samuthirakani holding on to the Indian national flag despite being beaten up by the colonial British police force. Veeravanakkam is set in the pre-independence era during the British colonization of India, and is said to be inspired by real life events. There are also murmurs that the film is based on freedom fighter Kumaran, a martyr who is remembered as ‘Kodikaatha Kumaran’.
Apart from Bharath, and Samuthirakani, the star cast of the flick also has actors Surabhi Lakshmi, Siddique, Ritheesh, Bharani, Ramesh Pisharody, and Kayal Devaraj portraying various supporting roles. Music composers M K Arjunan, Perumbavoor G Ravindranath, and James Vasanthan have each scored music for a song in the album. Cinematographers Sinu Sidharth and V Kaviyarasu have worked in tandem to capture the venture.
Editors Appu Bhattathiri and B Ajith Kumar have worked on the editing division of the drama. Action director Mafia Sasi has choreographed action blocks for the entertainer. Art director K Krishnankutty has engineered sets for the movie. The entertainer is produced by Anil V Nagendran himself under his production house Visarad Creations.
On the work front, actor Bharath is eagerly anticipating the release of his next drama Kaalidas 2 directed by Sri Senthil in which he has shared screen space with actors Bhavani Sre, Abarnathi, and Sangita. The Ippadiku Kadhal actor is currently busy shooting for his untitled venture under story teller M Guru in which he will be performing alongside actors Sasikumar, Malavika, Megha Shetty, & Sathyaraj, and Munnarivaan crafted by Vijay Raj in which he will be romancing actress Janani.
On the other hand, actor Samuthirakani will soon have back-to-back releases via the Tamil Malayalam bilingual film Kaantha scripted by director Selvamani Selvaraj in which he will be seen alongside actors Dulquer Salmaan & Bhagyashri Borse, and Indian 3 filmed by S Shankar in which he has costarred with actors Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, S J Suryah, and Rakul Preet Singh.
