Dhanush K Raja Expresses Unhappiness Over Raanjhanaa’s AI Altered Climax!

Actor Dhanush K Raja had his last outing recently in the action crime drama Kuberaa scripted by story teller Sekhar Kammula with actors Nagarjuna Akkineni and Rashmika Mandanna in prominent roles. The Gray Man actor had starred in the Bollywood romantic drama Raanjhanaa back in the year 2013. Director Aanand L Rai had directed the film. Writer Himanshu Sharma had penned the story of the flick.

Actress Sonam Kapoor had essayed the female lead role in the venture. The entertainer had a great reception among the audience. But a small quotient of audience and critics had expressed their disappointment over how the film ended.

Now, more than a decade later the production house decided to rerelease the drama with a different ending. They had approached actor Dhanush to get his consent. But that seems to have hit a dead end.

The actor seems to have been disappointed with the new climax, and refused to agree to the changes proposed. But the makers decided to go ahead anyway with their plan without his support by using AI generated versions of his portions. The movie got rereleased on 1st of August.

The Maryan actor is irked by their action, and has expressed his grievances over a press note on social media. Taking to his official X profile, actor Dhanush K Raja dropped the note and wrote, “For the love of cinema.” Here is the post made by the creator.

He starts the note right away by expressing his disappointment, “The rerelease of Raanjhanaa with an AI altered climax has completely disturbed me.” Then he goes on to critique the changes made, “This alternate ending has stripped the film of its very soul, and the concerned parties went ahead with it despite my clear objection. This is not the film I committed to 12 years ago.”

He finishes the note by advocating for stricter regulations to prevent such acts in the future, “The use of AI to alter films or content is a deeply concerning precedent for both art and artists. It threatens the integrity of storytelling and the legacy of cinema. I sincerely hope that stricter regulations are put in place to prevent such practices in the future.”

Apart from Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor, the casting crew of the film also has actors Abhay Deol, Swara Bhaskar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Shilpi Marwaha, Ishwak Singh, Kumud Mishra, Suraj Singh, Deepika Amin, Urmilla Sharma, Vipin Sharma, Reena Kumar, Rahul Chauhan, Ansh, Dimple, Uptal Jha, Shivi, and Nisha Jindal playing various other supporting roles.

Oscar recipient A R Rahman had overseen the musical division of the film. Cinematographers Natty Subramaniam and Vishal Sinha had worked on the cinematography department of the entertainer. Editors Amitabh Shukla and Sanjay Sankla had edited the movie. Raanjhanaa was backed by Krishika Lulla and Aanand L Rai himself under the production banner Color Yellow Productions.

On the professional side, actor Dhanush is gearing up for the release of his next entertainer Idly Kadai in which he has shared screen space with actress Nithya Menen. The Raayan actor is presently focused on his next project tentatively christened D 54 directed by Vignesh Raja in which he will be romancing actress Mamitha Baiju, D 55 helmed by story teller Rajkumar Periasamy, D 56 crafted by Mari Selvaraj, and a Bollywood film Tere Ishk Mein scripted by Aanand L Rai in which he will be collaborating with actors Prabhu Deva and Kriti Sanon. Besides these ventures, he also has the biopic of APJ Abdul Kalam christened Kalam directed by Om Raut, and Ilaiyaraaja helmed by Arun Matheswaran in the preproduction stage.
