Actor Suriya made his debut in Tamil cinema way back in 1997 as a chocolate boy in Nerrukku Ner which had actors Vijay, Simran, and Kausalya in lead roles. The innocent young man metamorphosed into a performing powerhouse and impressed the Tamil audience with his brilliant characters in Nandha, Mounam Pesiyadhe, and Pithamagan. The actor has now completed 27 successful years in Kollywood. The Vaaranam Aayiram star was last seen on screens in Bollywood in a cameo in the Akshay Kumar starrer Sarfira, a remake of his blockbuster flick Soorarai Pottru. He will soon begin to shoot for his next project tentatively titled Suriya 44. Actress Pooja Hegde of Beast fame is set to essay the female lead role. Story teller Karthik Subbaraj will be directing the entertainer. This is the first association of the director with actor Suriya.
As a token of love and celebration, Suriya 44 team has now released a special poster from the drama on social media. Taking to his official X profile, director Karthik Subbaraj unveiled the special poster from Suriya 44 and extended his wishes to the actor, “27 Years of awesomeness!! Hearty wishes to the one Suriya sir from team Suriya 44. 27 Years of Suriya. 27 Years of Suryaism. 27 Years of Suriyawesm. Love Laughter War.” Here is the post made by the director.
In the poster shared by Karthik Subbaraj, actor Suriya appears much younger donning a yellow red jacket with a white inner t-shirt riding a RX 100. In the background we witness a dim image of the star riding a RX 100 from Nerrukku Ner. The production team has planned to shoot the movie in and around the surroundings of Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ooty, and Kerala. The casting unit is currently zeroing in on artists that will be part of Suriya 44. So far actors Jayaram, Joju George, and Karunakaran have been confirmed to play a pivotal role in the film.
The technical department of the flick has music director Santhosh Narayanan teaming up with actor Suriya for the first time in his career. Meanwhile, this is his eighth project with story teller Karthik Subbaraj. Cinematographer Shreyaas Krishna has been brought on board to operate the camera. Editor Shafique Mohamed has been bestowed with the responsibility to trim the film. Art director Jackson has been roped in to erect sets for the flick. Stunt man Kecha Khamphakdee has been signed in to choreograph action moves. Suriya 44 is produced by Suriya himself for his home banner 2D Entertainment in association with Karthik Subbaraj under his production company Stone Bench Films.
On the professional front, actor Suriya’s historical fantasy action drama Kanguva was slated to hit the theaters on 10th of October but was delayed to prevent a contest in the box office with superstar Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan. The new release date is yet to be announced by the makers. Apart from this venture, he will be seen in a cameo role in his brother Karthi’s upcoming film Meiyazhagan.
