Actor Atharvaa was last seen on screens last year in the hyperlink thriller movie Nirangal Moondru crafted by story teller Karthick Naren with veteran actors Sarathkumar and Rahman in lead roles. The Pattathu Arasan actor will soon have a release this year in his upcoming crime thriller drama DNA. Storyteller Nelson Venkatesh, who is known for critically acclaimed entertainers like Oru Naal Koothu, Monster, and Farhana, has penciled and helmed the movie. He has co written the script of the film with writer Athisha Vino.
Malayalam actress Nimisha Sajayan of Jigarthanda DoubleX fame will be seen in the female lead role in the entertainer. The project which went on floors back in 2023 has been under production since. But finally, it has reached the release stage. The flick has been shot in and around the vicinity of Chennai.
We now have news that the entertainer is all set to hit theaters worldwide on 20th of June. The production unit themselves have shared the news on social media. Taking to their official X account, the production team of Olympia movies unveiled a special poster from the movie and worded, “X Truth runs in the blood. DNA Movie Worldwide Release on June 20th. Written & directed by Nelson Venkatesh. Produced by Olympia movies, Jayanthi Ambeth Kumar. Earlier talking to a popular media house about why he opted DNA as title, director Nelson Venkatesh said, “It is sort of an allusion to intrigue the audience. The word holds multiple layers to it. When someone hears it, many things come to mind. There could be a thread that connects all those things in the movie.”
Elucidating why he picked actors Atharvaa and Nimisha Sajayan for their roles, he revealed, “From Atharvaa’s early days in the industry, right from Baana Kaathadi, I have been observing his performances and works. He has quite powerful eyes. It is something the character in the film demanded. As for actress Nimisha Sajayan, I guess everyone would agree that she is one of the best performers we have today. She was my only choice when I wrote her part. I am confident that this role will be an outstanding one in her career.”
Apart from Atharvaa and Nimisha Sajayan, the casting crew of the flick also has actors Ramesh Thilak, Balaji Sakthivel, Chetan, Viji Chandrasekhar, Riythvika, Karunakaran, Pasanga Sivakumar, and Subramaniam Siva essaying various supporting roles. Musicians Sreekanth Hariharan, D Sathyaprakash, Sahi Siva, Pravin Saivi, and Anal Akash have scored music for songs in the film. While music director Ghibran Vaibodha has composed background score for the entertainer. Already a single titled ‘Kanne Kanave’ in the voice of Sreekanth Hariharan and Sireesha Bhagavatula, is out from the album.
Cinematographer Parthiban has been behind the lens for the flick. Editor V J Sabu Joseph has been roped in to oversee the editing division of the project. Art director C Uthayakumar has designed sets for the venture. Stuntman Don Ashok has fashioned action moves for the movie. The drama is produced by Jayanthi Ambeth Kumar and Ambeth Kumar under the production label Olympia movies. Udhayanithi Stalin has purchased the theatrical rights of the project and will be distributing it under his home banner Red Giant Movies.
On the professional front, actor Atharvaa is currently busy shooting for multiple ventures Parasakthi helmed by Sudha Kongara in which he will be co starring with actors Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, & Sreeleela, Idhayam Murali crafted by Aakash Baskaran in which he will be romancing actress Kayadu Lohar, Address scripted by Raja Mohan in which he will be seen alongside actors Esakki Barath & Pooja Jhaveri, and Thanal filmed by storyteller Ravindra Madhava in which he will be partnering with actress Lavanya Tripathi.
