Veteran actor Vadivelu and Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil were recently seen together on screens in the thriller drama Maareesan. The film marked their second collaboration after their successful outing in Mari Selvaraj’s Maamannan. Actor Vadivelu had portrayed a character named Velayudham Pillai in Maareesan, while Fahadh Faasil was seen as Dhayalan. Veteran actress Kovai Sarala had essayed the crucial part of assistant commissioner of police that goes by the name Fareeda.
Malayalam director Sudheesh Shankar, who is known for helming popular Malayalam movies Aarumaname and Villali Veeran, made his debut in Tamil cinema with the entertainer. Story credit of Maareesan is credited to writer Krishna Moorthy, who also had written dialogues, and aided in shaping the screenplay of the drama. Maareesan had a theatrical release on 25th of July this year, and went on to collect 7 crores in the box office. We now have news that the entertainer is all set to premiere on the Netflix OTT platform from 22nd August.

Maareesan Netflix OTT
Maareesan revolves around a thief (Fahadh Faasil) who befriends an amnesiac patient (Vadivelu) with an ill intention to loot a large sum from him on his way to Tiruvannamalai. They both get embroiled in a mess which pulls a cop (Kovai Sarala) into the scene who tries to track them down to solve the mess. Will the thief manage to deceive the amnesiac patient and steal the money, or will the cops get them before it, is what makes the crux of the story.
Apart from Vadivelu, Fahadh Faasil, and Kovai Sarala, the casting crew of the flick also has actors Vivek Prasanna, P L Thenappan, Sithara, Livingston, Saravana Subbiah, Renuka, Srinivas, Haritha, Telephone Raja, and Krishna playing various supporting roles. Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja has worked on the musical department of the drama. The album had two songs christened ‘FaFa Song’ and ‘Maareesa’.
Cinematographer Kalaiselvan Sivaji has taken care of the cinematography division of the entertainer. Editor Sreejith Sarang Ali has brought coherence to the entertainer. Art director Mahendran has designed sets for the flick. Stunt director Phoenix Prabu has engineered action moves for the film. The project is funded by veteran producer R B Choudhary under the production banner Super Good Films. AP International and Home Screen Entertainment had presented the venture.
On the professional front, actor Fahadh Faasil will soon have a release in Malayalam via the romantic comedy movie Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira crafted by director Althaf Salim in which he will be seen alongside actresses Kalyani Priyadarshan & Revathi Pillai. Apart from this entertainer, the Vikram star is presently busy shooting for his upcoming Malayalam project titled Patriot directed by Mahesh Narayanan in which he will be joining forces with superstars Mammootty, & Mohanlal, Karate Chandran helmed by story teller Roy, and a Telugu flick Don’t Trouble The Trouble scripted by director Shashank Yeleti.
On the other hand, actor Vadivelu is focused on his future entertainer Comedy Cowboy filmed by Nalan Kumarasamy, a couple of untitled movies filmed by Sam Rodrigues in which he will be seen alongside actor Prabhu Deva, and another one directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon.
