Veteran actress Saranya Ponvannan who ventured in to Tamil cinema with an innocent female lead role in auteur Mani Ratnam’s Nayakan alongside actor Kamal Hassan has done a lot of supporting roles in her career. But the actress who was in the sidelines took the center stage after essaying a spectacular role of a mother for actor Vimal in Kalavani which hit the screens under the directorial of film maker A. Sarkunam in the year 2010. Even since then she has become director’s delight when it comes to portraying the role of a mother. Actress Saranya Ponvannan who was shining as a mother of Kollywood heroes once again upped her game with a fantastic performance in the black comedy drama Kolamaavu Kokila helmed by story teller Nelson Dilip Kumar. Now, she is all set to surprise the audience one more time in her upcoming film.
The news is that actress Saranya Ponvannan has inked her signature for a new project which is set to be directed by debutant film maker Vishnu Ramakrishnan. The production house has unveiled the title of the film and has dropped the first look poster of the venture on social media. Actor Jiiva took to his official twitter account and shared the title and first look poster of the flick, and wrote, “Saranya Ponvannan is back with a bang. This time not as an ordinary mother, but an extraordinary Gangster Granny.” Here is the first look poster of the entertainer.

In the poster actress Saranya Ponvannan is seen holding a long gun sporting a fierce look with a background that looks to be based on a blood theme. Set at the backdrop of Chennai, it is said that the actress will be essaying a role of a gangster who has given up on the life of violence in the film. The title along with the poster has garnered the attention of Tamil cinema audience who are excited and wondering as to what the film will have in stores. The actress never ceases to amaze us, and we can be certain this is going to be another character of the star that will be remembered for a long time. The shoot for the flick is happening in full fledge. It is said that the production house is planning to bring the flick to theaters in the month of August this year.
Apart from actress Saranya Ponvannan, the film has actor Amzath Khan in a supporting role while actor Raaj Varma will play the antagonist. The cinematography for the flick will be done by cinematographer Anish Krishnan. Music director K. S. Manoj has handled the musical instruments of the flick. The entertainer is bankrolled by Venkata Srinivas Boggaram for the banner house Magnus Cineprime.
On the work front, the actress who was last seen on screens in the recent release Etharkkum Thunindhavan is currently busy shooting for her next project titled Idi Muzhakkam helmed by story teller Seenu Ramasamy. The actress will be making her debut this year in Bollywood with Chup: Revenge Of The Artist directed by auteur Balki. Apart from these ventures the actress has her long-delayed drama Kallapart directed by Rajapandi which has actors Aravind Swami and Regina Cassandra in the lead roles awaiting release.
