Shoot Commences For Jiiva’s Next Project Thagappan!
Actor Jiiva had his last outing in a guest role in the Telugu drama S Saraswathi directed and headlined by Varalaxmi Sarathkumar with actors Prakash Raj and Priyamani in lead roles. The Singam Puli actor had inked his signature for his next entertainer titled Thagappan. Story teller Ra Venkat, who previously helmed the critically acclaimed project Kida, has penned and is directing the entertainer.
Actress Rajisha Vijayan of Jai Bhim fame has been paired with actor Jiiva for the first time. Actress Lakshmy Ramkrishanan will be seen in a prominent role in the venture. We now have news that the project has gone on floors in Madurai with a small pooja ceremony. The team is said to have offered prayers in Karuppusamy temple before commencing the shoot. The makers themselves have announced the news on social media along with the first look poster of the movie.
Taking to his official X handle, actor Jiiva himself dropped a couple of posters from the pooja ceremony along with the first look poster of Thagappan and captioned it, “கருப்பண்ண சாமி அருளால் தொடங்கும் தகப்பன். The first look poster of Thagappan has the deity of Karuppusamy surrounded by large billhooks planted to the ground with a dark red themed background. Interestingly, actor Suriya’s Karuppu which released this year after a mild setback went on to be a blockbuster hit. Of late, Tamil cinema has seen an uptick in the movies based on divinity. Actor Dhanush alone is set to star in two such themed entertainers via Rajkumar Periasamy’s OM Chapter 1: Udhiram The Blood Wood and Vetrimaaran’s Thamizh Murugan.
The first schedule of shoot for Thagappan is planned for two weeks, and is set to take place across multiple locations in Madurai. The production unit has plans to wrap the shoot for the flick by the end of this year. The casting team is currently zeroing in on the rest of the artists that will be part of the drama. An official update regarding the same is expected to be announced soon.
Cinematographer M Sukumar will be heading the cinematography department of the movie. Editor Nagooran Ramachandran has been brought on board to work on the editing division of the flick. Art director K B Nandhabalan will be engineering sets for the entertainer. Stunt master Mahesh Mathew will be choreographing action moves for the venture. The film is produced by K Kumar under the production company Lark Studios.
On the work front, actor Jiiva will soon have successive releases in Jolliya Iruntha Oruthan filmed by M Rajesh in which he has shared screen space with actress Ivana, and Golmaal scripted by Ponkumaran in which he will be seen alongside actresses Tanya Hope & Payal Rajput. The Pokkiri Raja actor is presently shooting for his upcoming venture tentatively titled Jiiva 46 helmed by K G Balasubramani in which he will be teaming up with actress Rabiya Khatoon, and a Hindi movie The Saga Of Rashtriya Rifles directed by Manzoor Ahmad in which he will be starring with actors Ashutosh Rana, Fahmaan Khan, & Urvashi Rautela.
On the other hand, actress Rajisha Vijayan is awaiting her next Tamil release in Sardar 2 created by P S Mithran in which she has performed with actors Karthi, S J Suryah, & Malavika Mohanan, a couple of releases in Malayalam cinema via Khalifa directed by Vysakh in which she has featured with actors Prithviraj Sukumaran, Mohanlal, & Tovino Thomas, and Bachelor Party D’eux crafted by Amal Neerad in which she has teamed up with actors Naslen, Sreenath Bhasi, & Soubin Shahir.
