Superstar Rajinikanth had his last outing in the action movie Vettaiyan scripted by T J Gnanavel with actors Amitabh Bachchan, Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, and Rana Daggubati in lead roles. The Darbar star is now getting ready for the release of his next mass action thriller Coolie. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has collaborated with superstar Rajinikanth for the first time in his career. Writer Chandhru Anbazhagan has penned dialogues, and helped in fashioning the screenplay of the movie.
Actress Shruti Haasan has been cast as the female lead in the movie. Veteran actor Sathyaraj will be seen in negative shades in the flick. The film has been shot across many regions in Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Bangkok. The production house has already announced that the movie will be out in theaters worldwide on 14th of August in languages Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
The makers recently launched a single titled ‘Powerhouse’ in a specially held event. They have now released the lyrical video of the song on social media. Taking to their official X profile, production team of Sun Pictures dropped a clip from the event along with a link to the lyrical video of ‘Powerhouse’ from Coolie and worded, “Powerhouse Song Launch Event went crazy with Lokesh Kanagaraj & Shruti Haasan’s mass entry & speech Watch Anirudh’s Power House live performance: Watch the Power House Lyric Video! Musician Anirudh Ravichander is teaming up with superstar Rajinikanth for the fifth time following their superhits in Petta, Darbar, Jailer, and Vettaiyan. He has also crooned the song with rapper Arivu, who has written the lyrics of the track. The number is mixed by Vinay Sridhar, S Shivakiran, Rajesh Kannan, & M Srinivasan, and mastered by Luca Pretolesi. Two songs ‘Chikitu’ and ‘Monica’ have already found their way into the playlist of youngsters.
Earlier speaking about her experience on working with superstar Rajinikanth actress Shruti Haasan stated, “Until Coolie my interactions with Rajini sir was minimal to just cordial formalities. I never really knew him that well. It was a good experience working with him in the film.”
Talking about one of the things she admired about him, she said, “Every artist needs to be appreciated to stay motivated. When his costars perform well, he would appreciate them without any hesitation. Receiving recognition from a star in such tall stature goes a long way for an artist.”
The star-studded cast of Coolie also includes Tollywood star Nagarjuna, Kannada megastar Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Kanna Ravi, Rishikanth, Kaali Venkat, Reba Monica John, Monisha Blessy, and Junior MGR. Actress Pooja Hegde will be seen in the item number ‘Monica’. Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is said to have depicted an extended cameo role in the drama.
Cinematographer Girish Gangadharan has cranked the camera for the film. Editor Philomin Raj has been employed to edit the entertainer. Art director P Shanmugam has engineered sets for the flick. Stunt directors Anbu and Arivu have choreographed action blocks for the film. Coolie is backed by Kalanithi Maran under his production house Sun Pictures.
On the work side, actor Rajinikanth is presently shooting for Jailer 2 helmed by director Nelson Dilipkumar in which he will be sharing screen space with actors S J Suryah, Yogi Babu, Ramya Krishnan, and Mirnaa Menon.
On the other hand, actress Shruti Haasan is keenly awaiting the release of Jana Nayagan crafted by director H Vinoth in which she has performed alongside actors Vijay & Pooja Hegde, and Train scripted by Mysskin in which she has associated with actor Vijay Sethupathi. The Laabam actress is presently focused on her upcoming Telugu entertainer Salaar: Shouryanga Parvam Part 2 filmed by Prashanth Neel in which she will be partnering with actor Prabhas.
