Actor Karthi lastly played a cameo part in the Telugu drama Hit: The Third Case which hit theaters under the direction of story teller Sailesh Kolanu with actors Nani and Srinidhi Shetty in lead roles. The Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru actor had starred in a spy action thriller film Sardar back in the year 2022 which went on to be a runaway hit. The commercial success of the movie propelled the team to announce a sequel. Storyteller P S Mithran, who controlled the director’s cockpit in the first part, has the reins in his hand for the second installment as well. He has sought the assistance of writers Rathna Kumar, Ashameera Aiyappan, and Vignesh Muniyandi in writing the script. Nambi has helped in shaping the script.
Actress Raashii Khanna played the female lead in the first part. Actress Malavika Mohanan of Thangalaan fame has been paired with actor Karthi in the second installment. Talented actor S J Suryah is said to have portrayed the antagonist part in the drama. The entertainer went on floors with a small pooja ceremony in early 2024. Sardar 2 has been shot in multiple locations in Chennai, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan.
The final leg of shoot for the project was happening in Thailand. Now we have news that the shoot for the entertainer has been wrapped. Actor Karthi himself has shared the news on social media. Taking to his official X handle, actor Karthi dropped a couple of snaps with the entire team of Sardar 2 in front of Hua Hin airport in Thailand and captioned it, “Sardar 2 – That’s a wrap! The production house had recently released a prologue video from the film. The prologue video showed actor Karthi pulling off some chic action moves, and introduced actor S J Suryah as Black Dragger. Apart from Karthi, S J Suryah, and Malavika Mohanan, the ensemble cast of Sardar 2 also has actors Yogi Babu, Ashika Ranganath, Babu Antony, Rajisha Vijayan, VTV Ganesh, Anbu Thasan, Sha Ra, Sajol Ahamed, and O A K Sundar essaying various supporting roles.
Musician Yuvan Shankar Raja was supposed to score music for the venture. But he backed off due to reasons best known to the production unit. Music director Sam C S replaced him. Sardar 2 will be their second association after their successful outing in Kaithi.
Cinematographer George C Williams has handled camera gears for the project. Editor Vijay Velukutty has been brought on board to chop and patch the drama. Art director S Ayyappan has fashioned the background for the entertainer. Stunt man Dhilip Subbarayan has designed action blocks for the movie. Sardar 2 is produced by S Lakshman Kumar under his production label Prince Pictures in collaboration with Ishan Saksena under the banner house IVY Entertainment.
On the professional side, actor Karthi is eagerly awaiting the release of his next entertainer Vaa Vaathiyaar filmed by director Nalan Kumarasamy in which he has performed alongside actors Shilpa Manjunath, Krithi Shetty, and Sathyaraj. The Kadaikutty Singam actor is presently engaged in his future dramas Kaithi 2 directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj in which he will be sharing screen space with actors Arjun Das & Narain, a Telugu movie Hit: The Fourth Case scripted by Sailesh Kolanu, and a project tentatively christened Karthi 29 filmed by storyteller Thamizh.
On the other hand, actress Malavika Mohanan is busy shooting for her next Telugu romantic horror comedy venture The Raja Saab crafted by Maruthi in which she has joined force with actors Prabhas & Nidhhi Agerwal, and a Malayalam flick Hridayapoorvam helmed by Sathyan Anthikad in which she will be collaborating with actor Mohanlal.
