Actor Vijay Sethupathy is one of the most versatile and busiest actors in the industry. He has a huge line-up across the languages. Fondly called as “Makkal Selvan” by his fans Vijay Sethupathy is highly anticipating his 50th project “Maharaja” directed by Nithilan Swaminathan of “Kurangu Bommai” Fame. Touted as an action thriller, Vijay Sethupathi is reprising the role of a barber in the movie. Passion Studios and Route are bankrolling the project. Vijay Sethupathy is looking for a blockbuster as his latest movies are not making an impact at the box office. He has returned to playing a serious and full-fledged role after a long gap. Also the movie marks a significant achievement (50th film) in his illustrious career.

The latest buzz about the project is that it is all set to hit screens soon after the Lokshabha election polling is over in TamilNadu. The teaser is expected to be released on the eve of Tamil New Year. However, the official update is yet to arrive from the movie team. Apart from Vijay Sethupathy, the project has Abhirami, Mamta Mohandas, Arul Doss, Singam Puli, Natty Natraj, and Anurag Kashyap doing crucial roles. Acclaimed Kannada music director B. Ajaneesh Loknath of “Kantara” fame is composing the music while Dinesh Purushothaman and Philomin Raj are handling the camera work and editing part respectively.
Vijay Sethupathy was last seen in the Tamil-Hindi Bilingual “Merry Christmas” starring opposite Katrina Kaif. He is currently working on Vetrimaaran’s “Viduthalai Part 2” and an untitled project directed by Mysskin. Apart from this he is all set to play a crucial role in “Thalaivar 171” directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
